i'm sorry, but you don't leave a bike like that locked outside in east london.
My thought, too.

Here is finally a photo of my stolen bike. Handlebars have been changed since to very stubby flat bars. Cheers

I am developing a small miniature tracking device based on gps which will be able to track a fitted bike if stolen. Would you like to be part of a trail to test the product out as a security device. It can provide other data as well (carbon emissions savings, calories burned, metrics, what ever information you like...

im up for that

Yeah but what sucks is that you can't. After all, you see plenty of nice cars, carelessly left in the street with only a fairly simple locking device, all over East London. So we have to ask ourselves: how can we protect our nice bicycles? Just never go out? I for one hardly ever lock anything up anywhere, even with my shite bikes.
My thought, too.
'Stolen from Lower Clapton Road' might mean the bike was stolen from the owner. I suppose Oliver would have mentioned it if it was out of the ordinary, though. But to leave luggage on a bike locked up seems odd.
What really scares me is that geeky touring bikes are worth nicking. i guess this one sounds pretty sexy-looking.

It's one of the reasons why I ride my fixed bike so rarely. It's hardly a very expensive bike and mostly OTP but it is quite conspicuous and very nickable. I've increasingly thought recently of getting a beater with which I wouldn't mind if it got stolen.

I don't know under what circumstances it was stolen, but it wasn't from his home.

It's not my style of bike, either, but it was a high-quality bike. Thieves will steal anything if the opportunity is there.

And since Ed's very careful himself with seat security, I'd imagine he'd taken the time to ensure his girlfriend's bike has the same level of care.
yup, ball bearing + superglue.
thought no one bother to nick the brooks bag, they just look inside it and also it's superglued to stop people from undoing the strap to take it off.
not exactly completely anti-theft, but just enough to make the other bike seemed easier to get, and most especially since CSM student bike tend to be expensive bike and cheap lock (like a brand new pashley with a cheap £10 colourful lock to keep it safe).

Have you thought of anti-theft paint? Aaahhh, thought not. It's a must. ;)

• #1338
how exactly *does *anti-theft paint work?
-
• #1339
Like anti-climbing paint, only betterer! ;)
-
• #1340
I don't think she'll like anti=theft paint on her cooch, it might give her cootie.

More betterer.
Anti-theft paint has an extremely low friction coefficient. If you even try to touch the bike your hand slips right off. Cutting tools are rendered useless.

Sounds like the perfect solution against chafing--if you can stay on the bike! ;)

PLEASE HELP, I have had my gorgeous 2008 Red Wilier Pista stolen today from Cavendish square between 2.15pm and 2.30pm. It had some expensive extras on it, a very distinctive full carbon fibre moulded saddle with no padding and carbon fibre pro-lite bar tape, Look keo pedals, black chain tensioner. I know every other nut and bolt on the bike by heart as I am sure everyone on this forum does :)
If anyone sees someone riding it please slap a d-lock on it, kick them off it, call the police etc. Or if you see it for sale somewhere (brick lane?) please e-mail me mail@impendium.co.uk for a £35 reward.
I have never seen another one and they dont make the colour anymore
