  • My CAAD10 was nicked from the Waterloo Station bike racks today. 2013 model in near immaculate and shiny clean condition. Only changes from stock were black bartape, black Fizik saddle and M540 SPD pedals (all brand new last week). Gutted. Keep an eye out please.

  • Pedals changed since that picture. Oh, 2 black bottle cages added too.

  • Financial reward for it's finding.

  • I saw this a couple of weeks ago... Replied on your Instagram image.

  • It would be helpful if those who have had bicycles stolen could state which locks, if any, they used.

  • ^this.

And whilst I am absolutely sympathetic to people who this has happened to, if it wasn't locked I class it as 'taken' than 'stolen' (yes I am well aware that both are legally stealing, spare me the internet lawyers). Lock your shit up.

The reason it's useful to specify your locking method is because it helps other people understand the relative risk of each method / equipment choice.

It's not so really so that we can all say "LOL YOU DIDN'T EVEN LOCK IT?! HAHAHAHA FFS".

Besides, if it was taken from, say, your house (during a break-in, for e.g.), where it's unlikely to have been locked, does that make it any less of a theft?

  • Afraid that anything not nailed down comes under "taken" rather than "stolen". That's why I keep my best china in a safe.

  • Hope you keep that safe nailed down, in case somebody tries to take it.

  • I keep my credit cards fastened to a padlock through my septum. Any less and I'd be inviting pickpockets, and you couldn't legitimately call it theft if you'd actually invited them.

  • I think you misunderstood me. I was agreeing with @606. I wish everyone would say if/how it was locked, for exactly the reason you mentioned.

My own opinion is still that if you leave your bike unlocked, unattended, then you have made a conscious decision to dramatically increase the chances of it being stolen (taken).

  • Only 1 padlock that isn't sold secure gold?

  • Thanks, I don't see your message but the police found it which was awesome.

  • Oh really, you got it back!? Great news... I spotted the King hubs and knew something was up! Glad you're reunited.

  • oh, sorry that wasn't my bike. I think though it has been reunited with the owner.

  • evening everyone.

two of my bikes have just been knicked from outside my flat (in a gated block!!!).

  • Pearson "now you see me" dark blue single speed size M.
Mine has sks chromoplastic black full length guards and clip in pedals. These may have been removed but the 2 cm dent in the side of the top tube won't.

Stolen at 7 am this morning from outside my house in SE27 in the 30 seconds it takes me to lock the side gate from the inside walk though the house and come out the front door.

Please call or text 07947 621 five five one if you see it. Thanks

  • Hi.
Just spotted a kid in shoreditch riding a red and yellow Peugeot performance 5000 road bike, has spd pedals, dark red skeleton like saddle, pretty nice dura ace groupset...
He was riding it in sneakers...looked suspect.
I know its a long shot, but it didn't look right at all considering the circumstances.
Can't post the photo from my phone at the moment sorry.
