Well, there have been times when that hasn't been the case.
Good to hear that they're going after it. Let's hope something lasting comes out of it.
PC Musson may know of the CTF more under the name Safer Transport Command, of which they're a part.
They don't have too many local branches yet, I think, the Hackney one being the first IIRC, and I'm pretty sure they don't have a Tower Hamlets one yet.
Obviously, Brick Lane should be a collaboration between the Met at large, Hackney and Tower Hamlets, and the City Police, but I'll quite happily take any result the individual forces get.

guy cycling very fast (black peugeot, fixed) eastwards along the pavement of the road between senate house and the british museum carrying a leather saddle just now. he ducked into an alcove and either put the new saddle into his bag or onto his bike. i would have challenged him a bit more (a bit more than just wandering over and staring) but he was a scrotey looking fellow and i was carrying a laptop. if this was your brooks/wright/whatever I am sorry for your loss.

My flatmate's bike was stolen on Friday night from Corn Street in Bristol. It was a silver BSA courier fixed gear conversion with chrome wheels.
Unfortunately, I don't have a photo of the bike itself but this the closest I could find on the internet:Any help would be appreciated. Cheers
Hello, I saw this post on gumtree and had some suspicions about it so I searched the forum for any reports of this bike and yours is the only one I found. They look really similar but it's up to you to judge whether this is your friend's bike. All the best.
Regards, MJ

I realize this could have been someone from the forum who had just bought a saddle and was in a hurry.. in which case I apologize for calling you scrotey-looking.

Got my bike stolen last night so posting here in vain hope (hi btw, lurked here sometimes but first post...)
Blue Peugeot racer, frame early 80s although wheels, pedals, brakes etc are modern. Compared to the pic below it was recently converted to singlespeed (freewheel on back - the front chainrings haven't been replaced) and the tyres are slightly different (quite new Schwalbe Luganos), and full length SKS mudguards instead of the raceblades on the pic. It's the one on the right hand side/front of the pic.
It was left on Coate Street outside Sebright Arms, E2. As I'm a massive idiot (I normally check these things, I swear...) I noticed afterwards that the signpost I'd locked it to didn't have a sign on top so I assume a couple of guys just lifted it up and over, lock and all (no sign of lock at the scene).

I really can't wait for the day when somebody catches one of these fuckers in the act. I'm not sure my reaction could be anything other than violence with warning.

Pretty sure the Warrenty on all krypotyo gold level locks says if there cut or forced they will pay upto 3k or the value of the bike !?
-
• #11139
I thought it was 1K but you'll need the lock to prove it im sure!
-
• #11140
Cctv footage should be enough/ does he /she not have the lock?
-
• #11141
I thought it was 1K but you'll need the lock to prove it im sure!
It's 2.5K (http://www.kryptonitelock.com/Pages/ProductInformation.aspx?PNumber=997986) , as for proving it you might need to call them

unlikely you'll get 2.5 out of them without having registered ect (http://www.cyclechat.net/threads/claiming-monies-from-kryptonites-anti-theft-protection-offer.40847/) but from looking at it they often pay out 500 squids to make it go away without any hassle

According to PC Musson, the Brick Lane area is being 'absolutely hammered' for bike theft at the moment. I can't imagine there's ever a time when that's not the case, but thought I'd relay anyway.
He hadn't heard of the Cycle Task Force, which doesn't bode well.
