Ha, it's been pulled by Gumtree, my mate has been sent this message from Gumtree advising him to be careful...Took them long enough as he contacted Gumtree almost 2 weeks ago

  • My friends just returned to their flat in the estate off of Bethwin Road, halfway up Walworth Road to find their cargo bike had been nicked from right outside the front door - the bike was locked up outside due to it's size obviously. I am awaiting an actual photo, but in the meanwhile it looks a bit like the one in this photo except it is black and is in a far more used condition. It has a small solar panel on the front of the box which is pretty distinct. I will amend this post once I receive more info but in the meanwhile if you see anything please PM me, cheers.

  • ghostface - see pm

  • Saw a guy in a Hi-viz, jeans and a grey woolly hat walking along Marylebone road on Thursday afternoon, about 3pm, carrying a front wheel. He saw a specialized locked up and then stopped, checked the lock and began fiddling with the front wheel to get it off. Bold as brass. Looked early 40's and quite swarthy, sorry couldn't apprehend him but the driver I was with couldn't give a toss and I didn't have a phone on me to call the po po. if it makes you feel better I did shout out 'Oi, C*nt' at him but he ignored my call and carried on regardless. Could even see the look of anticipation on his face as he tried to swipe the wheel. I really hope he wasn't successful.
I was fuming when we turned down towards Euston

If he's got your bike, get someone to arrange a meetup then knock his block off and take your bike. Police in this country are slow, and when they are quick alot of them are too thick to realise, if you left it to them I'd give it a while; they get these calls everyday. Your choice mate.

  • I've heard of people having more truck with the police if they threaten to do the above unless they get police support. They don't like this because if they refuse to attend and someone gets battered questions will be asked.

I wouldn't recommend the 'direct approach' without some serious back-up; the last thing you need is an assault charge.

  • Have a "test ride", then just cycle away.

  • Friend's sister had both wheels switched one day in Glasgow. Wasn't much of a bike, but pretty annoying nonetheless.

  • Hi All,

I'm gutted to report that I have woken up this morning in Hackney (near Well Street) to find my Koga Miyata FullPro - bought here on LFGSS only back in January - stolen from being locked inside our block of flats, along with my wife's Charge Decanter.

The original sale thread for my bike is this one:
    http://www.lfgss.com/thread95365.html

Actually, gutted doesn't begin to cover it. Any help in looking out for either/both of these bikes would be hugely appreciated. Have reported the burglary and will do all the usual things like Bikeshd, Brick Lane Market, GumTree etc.

    Thanks,

    Dan

  • Damn that Miayta was a beauty. Sorry.

  • ^^ get straight down to Brick Lane Market, via London Fields/Colombia road.

  • I would if I could but I'm moving house today - obviously left it one day too late to leave hackney.

Happy to offer a reward (and forum donation) if anyone does happen to spot either of these. I know the Charge isn't quite as special to look at, but it was a birthday present from me to the missus last year so I'm keen to get it back too.

  • A good friend has had his bike stolen from his shed. It was in North London so if you ride past a bike shop / cash converters in Kentish / Camden / Highgate / Finsbury Park etc and see a Black Bob Jackson track frame or bike please let me know!

There can't be that many of these up for grabs so hopefully it will stand out a bit..

  • Five bikes were stolen from a garage in one of my neighbouring villages:

  • did they get through that chain in the picture?

Yeah this - how was it locked up? There's a couple of courier companies around there (including where my OH works) so would be good to know if extra security is needed/give heads up that bikes theives are around.

  • Mates house in Clapton got burgled whilst he was on holiday, the cunts took his Scott roadbike:

Edit: It's a Scott Speedster S60 (2007), cateye lights front and back, 30cm Abus D-lock attached to frame.

  • At least he made a large donation to the forum.

Haaaaaaaa. (with respect to the stolen bike).

  • Indeed, no disrespect to the bike's owner.
