  • I like to stop, collaborate and listen.

  • ^ It's sensible to stop if there's Ice about

  • Trackstanding practice, innit

Gives me a chance to catch up with Dammit and learn how to track stand/fall over

    To laugh at these^ two

  • Red lights are a great opportunity to pull the lycra out the crack of your arse and adjust your balls.

Mutandis mutandi if you are of the feminine persuasion.

  • I RLJ whenever it is safer to.

Road layouts and junctions are not designed very well, so this means I do it about 50% of the time. But only because I am forced, at other times I wait for ages for lights to change which doubles journey times and has pavement riders on BSO's run laps around me.

  • Thought I would share a recent experience in South London. I approached a traffic light as it was turning red. I stopped then had a little breather. I then watched the lights until they went green then I pushed off with my left foot to get a little momentum and started pedaling then continued on my journey.
    Thread

  • I like stopping at red lights on the bicycle. I usually need a nice rest.

I usually need that rest because I like to furiously catch up with and then nonchalantly pass those riders who saw fit not to stop, perhaps even advising them to stop at lights and ride faster if they want to get there sooner.

Traffic lights also sometimes provide one with an opportunity to play the 'pedestrian crossing dating' game (which is a bit like the tube escalator game), where you have to choose one person crossing the road as your imaginary date.

You are literally FORCED to jump the lights 50% of the time you encounter a red?

  • Dumb thread, pls merge

  • I like to stop, collaborate and listen.

    Repped for vanilla ice reference!

  • I like to stop because without watching RLJumpers I don't ever meet my daily quota of muttering "wanker" to myself.

  • You stop because the Highway Code says that you have to. If everyone complies with it then it makes all road users more predictable and therefore safer.

If you want to be traffic then act as traffic.

  • Crossing Aldwych junction from Bow St cycle crossing onto Waterloo Bridge: The other evening I started sarcastically shouting 'Go! Don't wait for the light! It doesn't apply to you! Just go!'. It's one of those annoying lights that goes red just as the one immediately before that goes green. I can see why people jump the light, but it's amazing how many do.

Thread is amazing. You mean you never wait at red lights ever? You sound like a selfish pratt.

  • i like pulling no footed endos @ evry red light

  • Occasionally people ask directions, it makes me happy to help, or say "nice bike " if I'm on the nice bike, I like this.

  • stopping at red lights is cool. and winners don't use drugs.

    stay in school.

  • I only stop so that I can pop in a fresh mint and adjust my headphones.

    I lol'd

I stop at lights cos its required of me.
I also feel I am flying the flag of awesomeness and responsibilty.
No, seriously, I stop cos its what I've been taught. I stop at every light through a pedestrianised 200m or so. There are 5 lights, it is awful I admit but every driver and every bus has to and so should I. I don't care however for the looks of "wow, didn't expect that" or "that right mate, stop right there." I get off the crossing peds. I do care for the gratiating smiles of gratitude as if I am shrugging off the stigma of careless skinflit who rides a bike they probably stole.

Red lights cater to my business too

  • How much for a handy?

  • I stop so everyone else can get a look at my sexy legs.

It brings hope to the nation - why do you think you lot got good at cycling since I moved here?
