That was probably not an audax that would have got anyone's mojo back.
It was raining when I left home at 7 and stopped just before 12, and was between 1 and 2 degrees.
Tailwind, some good downhills and really clear light for the return was a total contrast, but I was too tired from trying to keep warm on the first half. I found it pretty tough and am a bit concerned about being able to anything more than that. -

First DNS for me. Ended up doing a DIY instead, glad I did now after reading about the headwind.
Chapeau to you.

DIY today. Had to bail after 30km as my seatpost kept slipping. The ride home was terrible.

I think I'm done with audaxing in the rain.

I didn't feel too dissimilar. It was a hard first half. Don't beat yourself up about it.

Next stop for me is Mr. Pickwick's March Madness. Another 200 but this one is AAA.

Seeing as innaprpriate bike has outed me as an arrower I should probs tell audax tales... Did Worthing Winter Wander on Saturday plus the 100k ride out. Think I spent about three quarters of the day riding into a headwind, so Saturday wasn't much better than Sunday bar the rain. Was warmish (not cold cold) from about 7am onwards and some nice sunny spells through the day. WWW was amazingly well organised, some fantastic cakes on offer, a fun route but I was slower than I would have liked to get all the way around. Got a bit lost on the way to Horsham station after and added in some bonus on-trend tracklocross. A great time had, but I'm taking gears next weekend...
Fair play to the boat riders above!

That looks interesting. The journey over and back, not so much.
Tempted to ECE it and ride over then train back but I don't like losing whole night's of sleep for events these days.

Do a halfway? Train to Reading and then ride from there
-
• #8861
That might be a reasonable compromise. I'll have a look at how early they start running.
It would also get rid of the shitty bit out of London that I'm so sick of doing I almost, almost prefer the turbo. Hmm, that's still 135k from Reading to Tewks. -

Yeah, I meant the night before the event and then stay in a hotel. We're in the Abbey Hotel. It's pretty cheap.
-
• #8863
Yeah starts making it a bit of a faff for a 200 though. I'll have a ponder.
I'm already committed to doing a lot of travel for events this year.
I think I'm scheduled for a 400k so maybe ride over through the night, ride it and train back. -
• #8864
I'm doing TINAT 400 too
-
• #8865
I'm staying in the travelodge for the Mad March 200. It's a good ride every year I've done it. Never been dry though...

I've got a training program that I'm trying to juggle with appropriate events. I've entered 4x600s to do a Hyper for PBP quals but the missus doesn't want to ride that far so I'm not going to do PBP without her but I still want the hyper SR. The 400k doesn't have to be an audax but I like to use events to 'check them off'. TINAT was on my list last year but I couldn't make it work and couldn't fit it in even as a DIY. One day..

Never been dry though...
It's Wales.
Actually, @Señor_Bear might be a good luck charm for unseasonably warm weather in Wales..
-
• #8868
I was on about Mad March. That's Exmoor/Quantocks.
-
• #8869
I'm looking to do a hyper as well. I think I read up the thread you're doing WCW as well?
-
• #8870
Oh, I saw the Tewks start and assumed it was in Wales.
-
• #8871
Yep https://www.lfgss.com/comments/14478968/
I'm tempted to ditch one or more of them, since I no longer need PBP qualifiers, then I don't need to do them week after week. For example I could do the BBC 600 later in the year.

My mistake, @Señor_Bear said March madness. I was on about Mad March (200k) from Exeter.
-
• #8873
What is a hyper?
-
• #8874
Like a SR, but the four rides are 600s instead of being 200, 300, 400, 600.
-
• #8875
Doing an SR series (200, 300, 400, 600) by doing 600, 600, 600, 600 instead of the shorter rides. Nothing special, just another random thing I wanted to be able to say I've done.
Finished the Boat Ride at 6pm.
It was a slog for 80km into the wind. Averaged 23kph all day. FML
