It's gonna be a nice ride to finish the season.
The thought of Brasted after 290km fills me with delight!
And I don't have work the next day, unlike last year. (But I have been barred from doing a Sunday ride, even with begging and pleading, and tantrums and tears)

Yeah its a lovely route, I cant wait for Brasted either :/

I was on a blue Planet X with TT bars. Didn't get round. I'd been ill for a few weeks previous with Campylobacter and not really recovered enough. Fell apart after leaving Eskdalemuir and struggled with even the gentlest climbs so turned around at Gretna and headed back slowly.
Ended up doing just 200k. Was kind of feeling better after a couple of long stops on the way back but there was no way I would have gotten around.Mrs. TSK's first attempt at a 600 and it didn't go too well. She ended up calling for a pickup at the top of the road to Johnstonebridge.

Three of us are planning to go to Blackpool for BGB.
I wondered if anyone might have a bike rack for a car that we could burrow?
The car is a Mazda 5 like this;

Sorry we didn't get a chance to chat and sorry to hear you weren't feeling great. I was on the ISEN.
The crappy rain for the first 100km surely didn't make it easy to get going. Within the group I was riding 2 of them dropped out in Gala after 300 on the return leg from Alston. I knew if I stopped here for kip in my van I'd probably pack it in too as rain was only scheduled to get worse. So I pushed onto Johnstonebridge where I rested for a couple hours. Rain cleared up in the morning and I managed to drag myself around for a 9pm finish. Getting rather close to maximum value.
What was Mrs. TSK riding?

Did you book anywhere or just kinda rough sleep in the services etc.
-
• #8115
Slept rough for 30mins on the Moffat road under the eves of the Glen Cafe. Then another hour or so on a cushioned bench at the Johnstonebridge services.
For BGB I planned on roughing it but ended up sleeping on the floor of another rider I paired up with on route at the Eddie Stobart Trucker stop. Another truck stop at Lockerbie (on the route) is a good shout if you’re tired.

Ti Kinesis with Lauf forks.

• #8117
Cool. Remembered Mrs TSK also from the earlier Galashiels 400 finishing at McD after me. Wish I’d had the Lauf fork for the gravel sections of that one.

Conventional hotels hours arent very compatible, do you just rock up at a truck stop? -
• #8120
For Eddie Stobart, Peter (who I was ridding with) had a reservation and we arrived at about 3.30am. I am not sure if they have rooms ready to go or not.
For Lockerbie I've heard it is okay to just rock up.

I've not entered yet. I was going to do a London Orbital 300 the week before with my missus, and not sure how much enthusiasm I will have getting this late into the year but it's in my diary as a definitely maybe.

They're not all as flat as this one.......

BCC?
Brixton's famous Brixton Cycle Club of Brixton.
I nearly did an orbital with a few guys on the solstice but the route looked really suburban. I like the idea of the downs and the sea.
