It is BRM actually.

Have already done it routecheck innit. Give Ivan a break and sign up. True we should ride together some time but how about something Dura Ace like the Porkers?

Shark looks good but I'll need to somehow time a 300-400 to finish right before it. :)
-
• #6233
Serious? Pretty sure ACH needs some route checking for future rides 300 or 400 what would you like?
-
• #6234
Yeah, I've only got 2 months to TABR. I was going to do a 600 or similar that weekend.
The tricky part would be timing the finish with the start of the Shark.

Doing my first AUK event this weekend - The Scone Audax. Quick 100 around Forfar to Perth and back, hopefully involving more scones than just a view of scone palace.
I'm doing the 400 Auld Alliance Audax in June so using this weekend as a warmup to get an idea of the controls / Brevet Card stuff. Then going to do the 300 km Snow Roads perm in April/ May to get used to a full day on the bike. It's been about 9 months since I last did this kind of 300m+ distance

If your ride with Ludwig you will survive.
In a manner of speaking.

• #6237
You could do Greenwich Mean Climb on Saturday overnight, then The Shark Sunday....
-
• #6238
You might never be the same again though.

Sadly no ACH 400 all myth. True dat no pubs on a Sunday morning in Greenwich but you should be able to kind of time; I assume you don't want to sleep on this? Down to Downs was always good training for me.
B roads longish climbs and descends and Langton Green and Pratts Bottom service station 24h for the night. Do it four times and the Shark and you qualify for the Grimpeur du Sud medal as well.

Hmm... how would that route be for overnight services?

Another option would be K&SW 600 but that's a bit more logistics and I might save that for a subsequent weekend.

Doing my first audax tomorrow. A DIY effort
Done distance like this before without any worries so thought I might as well try and earn a Super Randonneur badge this year with all the riding I'll be doing
-
• #6243
Not great I imagine, you would also end up riding a lot of the same roads and climbs, The Shark is basically a condensed version of GMC
-
• #6244
I might save the Shark for when it can be a bit more fun then.
-
• #6245
I've done it as a DIY a few times, but it works best as a calender ride really.
I was supposed to ride it last weekend for the route check, but a combination of man flu and staying out drinking until 2am Saturday night put a stop to it.
DIY 200 tomorrow to my mother-in-law's to make up for it!

Route sheet and bits arrived for Hardboiled, slightly bricking it now!
-

Can't wait for the Shark, really enjoyed it last year \o/
If you see someone on a Boardman Hybrid that's been fitted with drop bars and hydro brakes say hello. I doubt there's more than one of those in London.
-
• #6248
Have only just realised Hardboiled involves 2am start. That sounds horrendous, good luck.
Hoping to manage a last minute entry for Shark, depending on family norovirus status. Any idea if it's in danger of selling out @mustardbeak ?

It's a hard ride. Most harderest 300 I think I've done.
I would like to do the series but don't have time to head to Poole and the double would be nice (not having known about it last year) but the 2am start etc is a pain.I might do them as Perms - do the first one and then straight into the 200 but with a normal start time so I'd get train back Sunday afternoon, evening.

That caught me out - I'd planned to ride to/from the start. Bailed on the to when I noticed the 2am start (to cater for the double event which I also knew nothing about) and then bailed on the 'from' when my new batteries failed to power my rear light.
It's a hard 200, but 13.5 hours is more then plenty to get round even if you are slow
