Don't forget you can substitute longer rides for shorter (e.g. do 2 x 400 instead of a 400 and a 300) or just go the whole hog and do 4x600 for the SR.
My point is, don't limit yourself to just looking at 300s in the calendar to finish it off if there's a nice looking 400 or 600 that you've been thinking of.
Wishing I had more free time to do longer rides, but at least I get to do Ditchling Devil 200 in a few weeks' time.

Is it possible to do the BCM as a perm? ideally with GPS?
-
• #5179
I need to find a good 400 to do to finish off my SR for the year. Though I don't think I'm going to have time before late July/August. Can anyone recommend anything? Would really like to not do it in the SE. I've really lost enthusiasm for anything without at least mildly dramatic scenery. Though also want to avoid anything too hardcore on climbing, which makes that harder.

It's available as a perm, yes. I got a card for the randonneur version but struggling to find a weekend to ride it at the moment...

Hmm, I don't have anything planned this weekend.

And the weather looks lovely.

• #5183
Yeah, you should. Loooooads of rides to do to get you there.

The National 400 on 30th July?
Never done it but looks good. All food and good sleeping arrangements included with that 40 quid as the National event is the one where people get together to put on a good show.
Definitely scenic (Peak District, Staffs, Shropshire, North Wales).

Late July/August? You should have the form for something nice. Sadly no holidays for me so you have to do it.
@peter_v and @pastry_bot would agree with this being nice riding country.
Rondom Luxemburg

Anyone have opinions on these two - weekend of 11th June:
Mae Mr Pickwick yn mynd i chwilio am ddreigiau a chwedlau. (clasurol) 600k

Considering Tan Hill as a last-minute panic/prep for the Mille Pennines. Unsure how wise that is but anyone I've spoken to has said the only way to prepare for one of Andy Corless rides is to do one...

Mille Pennines
Ooh, that sounds interesting too. Added to calendar.
Tan Hill is similar climb to BCM but is probably harder because shorter + steeper?
"Hardkn*tt & Wryn*se Passes as well as Honister Pass are included on the Saturday. Sunday focuses primarily on the northern Pennines and the Yorkshire Dales National Park." I don't know any of that but it sounds hard.

@marcusjb is probably most knowledgeable, he's done the Pendle 600 and possibly the Maniac Grimpeur (although that could be a different Marcus...)

Could you do Kingdom of East Saxons 1st weekend of July? My wife is away so I will be riding that, it loops so option of sleep at base (though I won't bother with that).

I would liked to have done Asparagus and Strawberries but have committed to doing Ditchling Devil (which I'm really looking forward to)ewith a couple non Audax mates. My SR is already in the bag so no pressure to do a 400 anyway.

sounds wonderful, indeed. mostly along the rivers Meuse and Moselle, so not too many nasty hills probably.

17000m! How does compare with Crackpot, i wonder?
Stop giving me new events! :P

Looking more, I think it's a different Marcus that did the Maniac. There's a ride report here: https://yacf.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=5212.0
Skimming through their posts from 2011 "I rode 600, 600, 1000, 600, 600, 1000 on consecutive weekends last year. I didn't die either."
I see you've already commented on this... https://crazyenglishtriathlete.wordpress.com/2011/12/27/cambrian-series-new-1000km-permanent/ might try and plot the route for that sometime out of curiosity...

I'd considered Kindom of East Saxons, but I'm just not sure I can get too excited about doing that route, particularly as was aiming to do Duwnich Dynamo there and back. There's only so much Essex lanes I can deal with.
National 400 would be perfect, but that weekend is probably too difficult family-wise - straight out of hackney + dunwich dynamo on the two weekends before and not keen to miss either of those.
So looks like Not quite the Spurn Head 400 (or the Old 240, but I don't think I could handle the climbing) are my best/only options for doing a 400 that other people are doing at the same time. Unless I can figure out how to do Dunwich Dynamo and back as a DIY by GPS.

CCC Classics, Belgium : £ 2,500
CCC Southern Alps : £ 3,300
CCC Northern Alps : £ 3,300
CCC Dolomites : £ 3,300
CCC Pyrenees : £ 3,300I'll just steal the GPS files and DIY thanks.
Was looking at that. I might give the SR a ago seeing as I've done the 600 bit now. also need to do a 300 though.
