I'm not a snob. I drink instant, Turkish, Polish, Italian, French, anything hot that doesn't taste like tea. #brokenbritain
Meths stove. All I can think about is Breaking Bad.

Got any links to ti mugs that are ok to be heated on one of those burners?

As long as it's not double-wall or covered in plastic you should be fine
Alpkit: https://www.alpkit.com/products/mytimug-400
MSR, Vargo, Evernew, Lifeventure, Snowpeak all make them but for more ££
If you go above 400-450ml you might struggle with the smaller burner holding enough fuel to actually boil the water, or depending on the size of the mug the whole thing becoming unstable. They do make a slightly larger (22g!) stove that's more suitable for bigger mugs.

Given that you're never more than 3 or 4 hours from the last control (and all will be able to provide hot black coffee).

Is that amazon one self-heating? I think this is more like it...
Edit: too slow!

Is that the right size for a bottle cage?
-
• #4437
Not sure, it's what came up when I googled for "bicycle vacuum flask".
A http://www.bikebuddy.co.uk/ would allow you to use any Thermos Flask.

You should do the Elan valley.

Was advised to stock up in Penrhyndeudraeth as nothing after this.
This isn't actually true.
There's intermittent pubs on the way to Llanberis at Garreg, Beddgellert and the top of the Pen Y Pass. There's also a chippy in Beddgellert. There's shops in Llanberis open to about 10pm for a small diversion and there's the Beran Service Station on the way to Menai.

Cross Foxes is the big hill you go over just after leaving Dolgellau on the return journey.
If you're not going to be stopping at the YHA to sleep on the way return leg then that's when you'll really be travelling where there's no options to get food or coffee. So in order to not have to haul lots of things with you around the northern loop, get food to get you through the return journey on the way into the first visit to the YHA and leave it there until you set off after the second visit.

My local guide advised a right on the A4120 after the Elan valley as the descent on the A44 was quite good.

That crossover control makes things pretty simple it seems (in theory).

Anyone got any nice ideas for a 3 or 4 or 600k Perm that's not too far from Nodnol?
I'm thinking about a weekend ride some time in the new year. Obviously I'd prefer just to do a couple of laps of Majorca but it'll have to be in the UK I'm afraid. Don't fancy catching trains (unless it's London to somewhere and I just train back).
GPS-only please. I don't do routesheets.
Exe-Buzzard has caught my eye, though it's about 80k from my place to the start/finish:

Do the Severn Across as a perm.
-
• #4447
I kinda wanted something I've not done before. I'd just bust through the Severn whereas I might treat the Buzzard as a fun little tour. Good idea though.

Rapha 500 and Around the Weald in January and you are on your way.
That's the one! I can't remember if they had a coffee machine, stopped there on the way back from the Bearbones this year. More importantly though, they do have a magic neon sign...
