Gorgeous day for a ride yesterday. Breathtaking views with autumnal hues. Very tough in terms of climbing and riding through the fog when the sun had set required a good deal of concentration.

Yeah!
Getting the train on sat in the morning. -

Lovely route!
Lots of hills.
This ride will be in sept next year and it will not be an aaa rise.
The fog and glasses are not a good combo descending down dark unlit lanes! -

Turned around after a couple of k, sat on turbo for three hours, sacked off the whole stupid training thing and went to the pub. Should've done the audax.

I need to find a ride to do. I'm getting fat and I have found myself running.
That Wild Atlantic Way thing is being oprganised by a chap who does the same parkrun as MsGraunch. It looks WAY TOO HARD for me to even think about. I think basically it scares me off because I don't really like battling the weather. Ho hum. What to do, what to do.

Adrian's a nice chap. Let him talk you into riding TAW. :)
Another 200k: https://sites.google.com/site/thamesvalleyaudax/events-in-the-thames-valley-area/upper-thames

He is indeed. I will not let him talk me into that at all.
-
• #4335
I think you should.
-
• #4336
do you just not like me?
MsGraunch's parents have a place in Galway, the rain puts me off visiting :-) -
• #4337
No, I'm hoping you will do it so I can ride it vicariously through the inevitable reports.
I'm fucking off this whole A-road malarkey for a tilt at TransAm and it conflicts with TAW so at this stage I'm not able to ride it.
-
• #4338
Are you doing TransAm next year? I am gently jealous
-
• #4339
I've not committed anything other than an intention. I need to get this final 24hr out of the way then I'll start thinking seriously about wtf a TransAm is going to require.
-
• #4340
Agreed. A tough 200, made much slower for me by needing extra caution downhill due to wet leaves, slippery mud, gravel, and that all-enveloping fog in the last 20 km. Absolutely stunning scenery in the Chilterns more than made up for that though.

This seems very reasonable even so the timing is everything but ideal.
-
• #4345
Sounds familiar :)
-
• #4346
I am basically scared of it :-)
I really do need to choose a challenge though, I am gettign fat(ter) and lazy(ier)
-
• #4347
I think you set another course record!
They was not expecting you back so soon! -
• #4348
Ha ha I doubt it, I was only rolling around at 24hr power. I did pick up the pace towards the end though after taking another wrong turn - at that stage I just wanted to get home and have a shower!
They'd not started cooking at the scout hut when I got in but I had some bread and butter pudding which was yum. The missus always prepares a meal for me when I get in so probably best not to ruin my appetite (as if) on the audax offerings. -

Can any BCM vets think of a reason riding it as a perm but starting ~Bangor would be a bad idea?

Suppose the weather is ideal on the weekend. Obviously that would rule out Dolgellau as a 1/3 and then 2/3 quartier. Let me think what I would do.
I think I need Nov, Dec and Jan and that's RRtY. I'll probably do yet another Boat Trip after the Worlds.
