August 2014: London to Istanbul, checkpoints in Paris, the Stelvio Pass and Montenego... that's just the 2500miles then...

    Where do I sign?

  • I'm very tempted to try a couple of shorter audaxes this coming Spring. The Two Rivers on 31st May looks good, I know that part of the world well. Or the Devil's Punchbowl the same month.

The previous winner did it in 8 days, 15hrs 50 mins. This equates to roughly 19km/h so well within basic audax speed.

Would like to see how a velomobile would fair on that.

  • so well within basic audax speed.

Yeah, approx 450km per day for 9 days on the bounce would be a piece of piss.......

I think I might give other riders a chance and not enter this year.

I see what you did there.

  • Just signed up to do the 'Hackney GT River Ride' on saturday. Now I just have to remember to fix my brakes before then.

  • Watership down in the diary, would love to return.

  • Thinking about getting a train up to Norwich 8th Dec for Norfolk Nips 2, a100k.

  • Right, Poor Student and Willy Warmer entered, look like I'm definitely going, on the new bike no less (hooray).

  • Sound like it gonna be another classic, pity I'm working Sunday.

  • Looks like a good one.

Going out to do a RRtY double header this weekend. Poynton to Holyhead on Saturday and back on the Sunday. Basically, Mike Wigley has split his Llanfair PG 400 into two permanents which works out nicely. Probably going to be brisk and breezy but flatish and avoids any scrabbling around for a December ride during the festive season.

The race is now full. Did anyone sign up?

  • The race is now full. Did anyone sign up?

    errr, not me...

I would love to do something like this, but I just can't afford the time needed to train enough to do it justice, plus I'd probably have to get another bike, my current audax bike - the Iron Butterfly - probably wouldn't be up to it as well...

    anyone else?

  • Has anyone signed up for Watership Down?

I was looking at train times and it appears there is only a bus service on the 12th of January. Although I could be wrong about that. Can someone else confirm that I'm not just using the national rail website wrong?

  • Again? Gah. It was bus service only last year. Me and Bothwell went and got on to the bus fine (it was a coach with storage). Am willing to chance it this year, but that is annoying. Both Bothwell and Skully said they were planning to do it and I've put an entry in.

  • Should note that we were slightly worried about that bus service as the guys were muttering about it a bit but we got away with it because there were only two of us. I have no idea how happy they'll be transporting loads of people. And as I recall we had to get an astonishingly early train out, seem to remember I left the house before 5am.

  • True, true. Rubbish, rubbish trains.

  • That's not good - I live close enough to ride down to it :)

  • Northwest passage 200km in Feb paid for and Plains 310km in April paid for, just got to get fitter now.

  • Anybody doing the Poor Student 200 who would like to join me and EdScoble in the travelodge the night before?

Forget a 4:30am start from london, roll out of bed in the morning over to the start line in style with us ;)

  • Northwest passage 200km.

That look pretty nice, bit of a way from London, going to see if it's plausible to make the journey...

I've not done it before but as it's local - ish to me I know it's really popular.

  • That NW passage route looks pretty awesome, not a huge deal of climbing on paper but the elevation profile/maps looks like it has long climbs/descents through some lovely scenery?
