  • Have booked myself onto the Finchley ride on Sunday. My first audax and it'll have to be fixed as the geared bike is currently just a frame.

  • joined and stripped out Buzzard route here if anyone wants it:

  • I've signed up to these two this weekend:

    http://www.aukweb.net/events/detail/13-209/ <- Rutland 300
    http://www.aukweb.net/events/detail/13-581/ <- Suburban 100

  • see you out there Sat Kristian.
I'll be the tall fat guy with the sky coloured kask casque

  • Am down to do Rutland too, but 2 weeks of beer and burrito consumption has not left me feeling super-prepared (though I could probably do with the exercise). If I don't lose my nerve I may see you at the beginning (though almost certainly not at all after that).

  • oooh
would that be a first 300 KT?

  • If it I finish it it will be. It all seemed such a good idea 3 weeks ago. At least I'll get a tan.

  • Good luck KT!

Looks like I'm going to miss sunday's Suburban Breakout 100. I have to lay some turf (not any kind of euph').

  • Awesome KT! you'll enjoy it no doubt, especially with the warm weather we've finally managed to received.

  • Good luck KT!

Postpone laying turf in this weather, it'll die. Best to wait until the autumn now.

  • Shortest ride report ever?

    Excellent job KT.

  • Nicely done!

  • KT you're a star.
It was VERY hot out there, and there wasnt a lot of shade.

Hope you found someone to ride with.

  • Hardly - the thought of getting up and doing that again 3 more times in a row (and then some) terrifies me - am even more in awe of everyone doing LEL.

With the exception of the 3rd quarter, where I went to quite a dark place, that was a fabulous ride - beautiful route, hardly any traffic, and really friendly people.

No sign of you in the pub when I got there, Zanda, so presume you knocked it out in super-quick time.

  • Don't think we'd have missed each other by that much. We had a few pints and jumped on th 2052.

Typically for me rode hard hard and faffed hard.

  • You aren't in this pic by any chance katie? Popped up on my fb feed

  • ^ Indeed, there I am. Proof!

  • Looks lovely!

  • Amazing. Well done.

  • Back from the Suburban Breakout ride. I was imagining a fairly straight forward 100k but it turned into a bit of an adventure. Another late start due to getting on the wrong train at Kings Cross. Should have been 11a instead of 11b. Half an hour where I could have been having tea and cake. Then I went the wrong way round the loop. After which I went majorly off route. Only realised when I couldn't find the control. Spent ages going round in circles round Hatfield. Eventually got stopped by the police going down a slip road the wrong way. That could have been nasty! Tried again and ended up on a dual carriageway which had virtually no shoulder so I stopped and threw my bike over a hedge as I noticed a small road on the other side. Got pretty scratched pushing my way through the hawthorne. Eventually got back on route only to find semi familiar faces coming the other way. Which is when I realised I'd gone the wrong way round.

Still, was a gorgeous day and just about made it in time and got 1 fixed wheel challenge point.

Last night I had this odd gut feeling that I shouldn't do the ride. There was no reason just a feeling. Strange eh.

Oh yeah. Have to learn to use that GPS thingy properly.

  • Oh dear. Sorry to hear that mate.

In other news, there's a nice bargain audax frame going on a bin now for a medium to tall person:

  • The suburban breakout was my first audax, lovely though a bit of a comedy of errors in preparation, and I have the nastiest sunburn now, though it was nice experience.

I feel I saw Arup on part of his reverse route, fixed with orange pannier?

  • Hilarious wacky races type shenanigans.

    Bloody hell.

I'm not sure I want to go riding with you Arup :S

    Rep for hardness though.
