  • yeah 19 was what I was referring too – it's not like there's a van following me around feeding me burritos (though I would love that), I don't know whether there's a difference between AUK's definition of support and Fronter300's when F300 are trying to sell it.

I assume though, that if I binned it on F300 then someone would be coming to me, in which case it's no good for RRTY. I'll try to design myself a flat 200 to do after!

  • Possibly technically not in the spirit, but enter the first 200k as a DIY?

  • AUK don’t really have a useful definition of support, and that FAQ is pure speculative wibble and not in any way the rules.

AFAICT it takes a lot to cross the line, as I’ve heard the Vatternrundan (mostly closed roads, huge pelotons, very supported) given as an example of what is allowed. I think your own van following you would be about the only thing that would be a disqualifier.

  • cheers both. I guess at the end of the day I'm trying to dodge doing a 'proper' audax in the month I'm doing F300, which as Kurai has pointed out is not really in the spirit of RRTY. I'll see how desperate I feel in June!

  • Vatternrundan

I could have had all the New Oxford Street rides validated?

  • Am I mis-remembering ? In previous years when i couldn’t do them there were mid-week events. This year none in the south for the first half of the year.

  • Sorry, should have been more specific. I was referring to just submitting 200km of the 300km as a DIY, so in case you bailed in the last 100km you'd still get a RRtY ride.
As grams says, the FAQ aren't the rules.
If support in the F300 means a few controls with food etc, that's no different to a calendar event. So I'd have no qualms doing that.

  • Lol, having done Vattern it would be a complete pisstake claiming it for auk points, it was also not quite 300k anyway.

  • How likely is LEL this year folks?

  • Pretty likely with a smaller field than usual.

  • From YACF:

The event will go ahead for as long as it remains financially and
organisationally viable. If we have another wave of a bad covid
infection and the world seizes again before April, then I will
probably close the event and pro-rata refund whatever is left in the
kitty. Everyone would get back xxp in the £. This will, of course, be
horrible, not least because of the work already sunk into the event.

By April there are no refunds, not least because by then we are in the
process of spending lots of money on stuff for the event. So if the
event is viable it will still go ahead even if there are international
    travel restrictions

  • Shit better start ‘training’

  • Would they extend entries to more locals I wonder? I mean, was there a rider limit to begin with?

  • Have entered London – Anglesey – London instead.

Don’t know if I can transfer my guaranteed place for LEL. Will look into it

  • LEL has a limit on entries and has sold out previously but who knows post-Covid. My partner and I have finished 7 x LEL between us but probably won’t enter this time.

  • In leaning towards this I think.

LLEL was really fun last year and if I'm honest with myself I tend to ride these things via Co-ops rather than the official controls anyway, and hey, 15 quid.

  • Do DIYs have to be in multiples of 50km? ie. if I've got a 140k route, that's basically an overdistance 100k and I'm better off adding 10k to make it 150k, yeah?

Also, what's the time limit for a 50k DIY?

  • 50/15 h

  • You have to get to 200 km before you’re not just doing an overdistance 100 km.

DIYs are 14.2 km minimum speed, so 3.5 hours for exactly 50 km.

  • The 600 I found other day looks as good as the BCM and Brimstone. And it’s 630km.

  • Ah, you can't do a DIY 150k? I guess that's why I've never done one before and now I'm having a brainfart.

  • No problem with diy 150k audax according to audax uk only over 200k are the intervals 100k.

  • Stuff like Medip Flip Flop is 150 or 160km so maybe that's why I suddenly figured 150 was ok

  • Yes, you get a few audaxes which are 100 miles, so c. 165 km

  • DIYs under 200km are classified as BP, Brevet Populaire, so a lower min speed of 10kph giving you 5hrs for 50km.
