  • |³|MA3K Go buy the RD cranks with ring from Condor, £49.99.
They are not the same as those pictured in HubJub, the 165 drilling has proportionate crank arms.
I needed them after this happened last week:
Had these on the Pista for a year and a half, then the Steamroller. In-total about 3 years riding.
Note, I removed the chainring bolt after-the-fact the spider broke in three places.

dam y didnt mine break like that ><
    grr
it has electric tape on scratches atm lol, need to get some touch up paint

  • you bin puttin' the hammer down, mr ma3k.

    that's torque.

  • I've now got 4 sets of track cranks in the cupboard.. maybe one day I'll fit one.. :)

  • cheers all for comments. I'm looking for some new cranks at the moment after my current ones constantly coming loose. Going to head down to Condor and get the RD condor cranks - just what I'm after!

@ma3k: blimey, never seen cranks in that state!

  • hippy I've now got 4 sets of track cranks in the cupboard.. maybe one day I'll fit one.. :)

ill give ya a fiver for the lot of em

  • the newer miche ones look really thin and cheap on the rear, even though they are CNC machined (to me look exactly like an rpm crankset)

stronglight are really nice, but the chainrings are only 3/32

sugino RD are a good value for money option

depends on vintage of bike, but maybe a nice SR or campag pista set from jos or roberto, would be the go.

  • yeah, might as well get the rd 'cause they are such a good price.

just run condor about them... i really hate their tone! why can't they be nice :(

  • Misererabilists some of them. don't forget to pickup the Sugino BB in 103mm.

  • if you're getting close to £100. you might want to consider these. bargain for around about £130ish

  • ok, didn't get the cranks. The guys in Condor are such arseholes. Rung them up, specifically asked if they had their Condor-branded sugino rd messenger cranks: yes, loads in stock. Went to get them: hands me Miche cranks. I say I wanted Sugino, and then he tells me they're exactly the same. Grrr!

Beginning to do my head in now, thought I had it all decided and done with...

Bought some Specialized shoes though which I'm well chuffed with - first clipless! Still, the guy serving me (quite old, bit of a porker) came across as if I was really inconveniencing him even though I'm dropping 60 notes in his till.

  • hmmm i had guy called Sam help me sort out my shoes. He was genuinely a brilliant bloke! Condor's been pretty good overall once you get past the initial snobby misery :-)

Well better than BLB at any rate...

    awwwww, there there.

Hmm... it's really annoying from the point of view of a customer, I think, because they have a good range and their prices aren't too bad. Perhaps it's because I'm quite young (from their point of view; I'm 18) so they just think I'm window shopping and that I'm a waste of their time. Admittedly, I ignored anyone under the age of 21 when I worked as a salesman in Comet.

I wish I could start my own bike shop!

  • yeah but all teenagers are poor, thieving hippies ;-)

  • Yeah that guy has been a bit snooty to me (19) several times.

I remember once buying a few tools there, came to about £30, and after paying the guy looked me and said "er... nah you don't need a bag" and handed me the tools. Didn't really appreciate that at all.

However there are some really safe people in that shop, been treated well as often as i've been fobbed off.

    What a wanker... :-/

I think I'm just going to have to get used to it. Bike shops + looking under 21 = crap service wherever you go.

  • jokes aside, that sucks for you guys.

i took a wrongly bought cassette chainwhip back with no receipt after 2 months and the guys were nothing but decent about swapping it for the correct one.
    go figure?

  • if you came back to my shop tryna swap a 3/32 for 1/8 you say you bought 2 months ago, i woulda wrapped the chainwhip round yer hairy sack and applied some torque.

  • oh man, you must be a miserable bike shop snob then.

To be fair it wasn't used and had the condor price sticker on it.

  • it was an attempt at humour.

    nevermind.

  • Better luck next time pj (pj). You could make another passing remark about my cranks if you like? :P

  • actually, as i said last night, the GB looks ace.

    put some pics up.

my carlton arrived this morning, can't get the right side BB unscrewed. GRRRRR. is an old fixed cup thingy.

  • ...Is that a set up?

.....Oooooooooo i can't hold it in anymore......Take it to brick lane bikes i hear they're good with cranks especially on old frames

    ...:)

  • pj (can't be bothered to type it twice), what size is the fixed cup (AF)?
    Might be able to help

Alex (a passing remark) what happened about your cranks? (and can i still get the spider of you?)

  • lol - it was quite funny :-)
