Flip the stem and bin the spacers. It would still be ugly, but it would be slightly less annoying.

Edit. How many grammes does one really save/what are the actual pro's with not running a full length cable outer? Never understood these brake cable stops. Surely a full length outer would look better.

however good your outer cables are they do compress slightly when braking, having loads of outer = more compression = brakes don't feel as good.
