I can't put my finger on it but something's leading me to believe that that is a Lemond bike :-)

Lovely lovely bike, that Lemond.
I did read the chainring wrong the first time and I'm now imagining sparkling vampires riding roadbikes.

Come on! Ferrules!
Try finding one that fits in such a tiny hole (no pun intended). I couldn't find one for my Van Tuyl, so I made one out of a ballpoint end! Maybe I just wasn't looking hard enough though.

The shop I worked in had loads of those ferrules.. what's wrong with the group on that Basso, it's getting raced I believed. Looks perfect IMO (just the cables..)

The Basso Ascot should have an all silver group

Every shop stock them, you can buy them from Madison.

Sadly I'm not from the UK! Local shops didn't seem to have them and having such a tiny part posted didn't seem worth the effort, so I just made my own. Works perfectly.

In that case, local shops should be able to order it from one of their supplier (our is usually Madison), obviously you got a solution, but if another one is needed, LBS really should have some.

For the lolz, I measured the step down ferrules in my parts bin. The minor outside diameters were:
5.9
5.8
5.5
5.4
5.3
4.8
4.7
4.4
4.0
(I have >9 of them, but there are duplicates)Cable outer sheath insertion bores
5.3
5.2
5.0
4.4Step lengths 3.8 to 6.5
Overall length 10 to 17
Presumably each one was perfectly sized for something once. This is the porn thread, so if we uphold decent porn standards of no rattling on either end and the step being <1mm from the socket face after assembly, "every shop" probably needs to stock somewhere between 100 and 200 separate SKUs to be able to supply the right stepped ferrule for any project.
