I appreciate all the history, time, effort, money and prestige that this bike represents but... it just looks like all the other full NJS bikes?
iunno man it's nice and all but ¯_(ツ)_/¯
-
• #94938
While I'm not going to argue as taste is subjective, I have to disagree about it being your typical NJS bike.
The frame alone sets it apart. It has an NJS Cinelli cockpit you rarely see plus the NJS Sheriff Star hubs (basically a typical NJS bike consists of Japanese parts (Nitto/Shimano) while this is a Cinelli bike). The 3Rensho seat compliments and finishes off the bike perfectly.
Regardless of if you think you might've seen it (or something similar) before, it's still a p0rn bike in my opinion. A nice change from for example the dozens of Pinarello's which all look the same to me.

Yup, I get it, I've read the thread and understand the whole thing. I just don't think the history and rarity of the frame and parts make it substantially different from any other NJS* build. It's cool, it's porn, it's just looks kinda normal. The fact that the stem's Cinelli and not Nitto doesn't make much aesthetic difference, imo.
*of course, there is a reason for this.

Or Colnagos..

sad, but true

I'm still doubting whether the Cinelli parts are original NJS. Stem looks modern panto machine copy (logo is also to shouty and big IMO.) Same goes for the handlebars.

Pretty sure they're legit. Just google 'cinelli NJS', they all look like that. They're NOS right, so that's probably the reason why they look this new.
-
• #94944
Ofcourse I did that. #googleistruth, everyone knows that :)

I like good debates ;)
In all honesty i also agree it looks like an NJS build. I think if you know what you're looking at you can tell that there are some unusual features on the actual frame and fork itself. There's obviously a lot of history behind it and then the rare parts which really make it. In the end NJS is NJS. Campag and Cinelli parts are as unusual as NJS gets so they do give the frame a different slant.
Plus I spent 4 years collecting everything so I reckons it looks the best out there ;) Slight bias!
@Shame I do think they're genuine. No matter what Cinelli NJS parts you look at and no matter where they're stamped then they have the large, slightly OTT, NJS logo. Some of the big collectors have exactly the same and the few shops that have sold parts like this also match up.
Unless I have madz engraving and stamping skillz and made perfect copies... -

It looks and (I guess) it rides like a nice vintage track bike. It's in the right thread whether or not you care about the rarity.
tldr: fit bike, would ride.

Maybe just not a fan of people who can't be arsed to put their race wheel in for the photo session.
