Carbon clinchers are no choice either - this is the ultimate culmination of negative criteria: expensive, heavy as aluminum, bad braking with heat failure issues when using on long steep descends.

Maybe ask in the wheelbuilding thread when you've decided what the rims are for.

Don't mind that Evo colourway...
-
• #93930
Disc brakes ftw
You can then have nice rims that are not going to be problematic when braking.

Normal chain and cranks away from perfection IMHO, maybe a less shouty wheelset as well.

Ugly seat post. Ugly fork. Different front and rear brake, yellow on the top tube but red on the brake levers. Saddle not level, ugly huge gap between front wheel and down tube, huge front hub, crank is horizontal, the chain...
No thanks.

THM brakes are the same, just look different from each side. Saddle is level too, that's how the THM / Tune ones sit, with a slight concave.

• #93935
crank is horizontal
Inexcusable!
-
• #93936
Ok the brakes might be. Saddle is not level. What is THM? I'm getting some weird results when I type that into google.

Indeed, violates #48

Rule #26 actually.
I get that we hold (pictures of) bikes in this thread to a higher standard, but would you agree not putting the cranks in the 'proper' position isn't taking away from the p0rn-level of the bike itself?
Also, what is the correct way to position your cranks? The rules say:
Cranks never at 90 or 180 degrees.
Measured from where, 12 o'clock? I'd say putting them at 3 o'clock should acceptable, since the typography on most cranks is horizontal this way. Probably more than half of the (pictures of) bikes in this thread are guilty of breaking this sin.
What would be the preferred way to position them in your eyes?
crank is horizontal
If I wanted to be pedantic I could say the rules allow the cranks to be at 270 degrees, which is technically horizontal. ;)

He's right about the yellow. (And other stuff.) Should've got the SRAM Red TdF edition.

what is the correct way to position your cranks?
I thought aligning them with either the down or seat tube?
And NGL, am not feeling the seat post.

Hed are doing some kind of black machined rim thing now too, but no idea how whether it's standard useless anodising or something more durable:

Tijs, yeah just made a joke about the rules etc. Was looking up two at the same time, didn't work out the way I wanted to XD.
Rule is simple. Measured from 12 o'clock they can't be at 0, 90, 180, 270 (duh, if one is at 270, the other is at 90) and 360 (duh). Besides that, not extending the parts of the frame (aligning them to the tubes) is a really big plus.
Point is, the bike still doesn't look nice. The split seat post (even a Supertype looks better) and that ugly half-fork and huge clearances really need to go. As well as the bad color combination.

They do one thing. They break.
To be fair, the DA wheelset are hardly durable, since they wear out quite easily.

weak page!

Disc brakes ftw
You can then have nice rims
Nice rims, but fucking discs - no thanks.

• #93949
agreed, needs something drag it back up, how about a nice colnago..

lol
If Vagens needs fast, black rims then carbon is the obvious choice.
If you want black aluminium rims that last, see my link.
You're welcome.
