a good call ,saw one of those a punter had at the befamed Balfes bikes workshop in Kennington, looked ok and would have more 'integrity'compared to the wretchidity of what was built up instead

Well, I chose to post it according to some standards of mine (maybe mistaken) and because it is not another de rigueur Colnago or DI2 equipped carbon bike. I just like the way each detail works spot on (again subjectively) and that it is a fairly modern bike but following the classy standards.
There are a lot of functional bike examples just on the last 5 pages so don't know why this or the fact that it could be built for a grand (like it's chips) discredit it from being posted here.
Anyway, back to the anonimity in this thread, will continue to watch all the same bikes with different decals carefully! :)

Surprising to hear this, is yours 853? Of all the steel frames I've ridden I like the 853 Donohues the most... Can you not Desticker it/cover the decals with some white vinyl?

I agree with you that it is a good looking well-balanced day to day bike and you are absolutely right that not all Colnagos are exactly fabulous (sorry, Saarf). I'm also with you on DI2, I don't get why people want to make their machinery marginally uglier and heavier for no real advantage over mechanical shifting (presuming they have working fingers and thumbs).

Bike porn is a matter of opinion, what is extraordinary for one person is a pig with nice paint for another. Nobody has the right to be right, for instance, I think pro bikes are almost always just functional and single speed off-roaders are bloody pointless, which makes me wrong.....

I also agree with TRAs views on his own bike, he does have a right to them!

Thanks dude, like I said before I appreciate the appreciation! Just totally unexpected to see my bike in here. Maybe I should have given it a proper clean before taking the pic! Also, you can't see the worn bartape and blue anodised nitto bar ends ;)

Think it's plain old 531. Well, thats what the sticker says. Aero downtube is slightly smaller than the 853 ones. The chain stays have an interesting profile though. Who knows! I know it's reasonably stiff but does flex under power, the geometry is nice and the welds are super neat. Might do something about the decals eventually. they seem to be under the lacquer though.

i'd hazard a guess and say 'pelten shade' type bar tape,hard to find in decent colours

These guys tend to have some funky bar tape but designs available change from week to week

defo some funky shizzle there, i managed to get pelten shade tape that complements an uncompleted build via donor bike

ya, thats my build. Cheers for the post here. I bought the frame from another forumer @James.
Tape is Iscaselle Dainy, not quite as nice fade as the Pelten Shade but the quality is there. I couldn't get a hold of Pelten in black as you say.
Repaint one day. The pics are tremendously flattering, plenty of battle scars that require attention.

This was in my collection a few years ago, too bloody small as per usual

Seems unlikely. Looks pretty close to the insertion line already, and the drop looks reasonable. If anything, the nose-down saddle setting usually indicates that the saddle is too high for the rider.

As ever,just my opinion,I use similar saddles and always use set in line with tt
