ENVE make very good Components out of carbon. Have to complement them on the SES road bars. Stiff as, despite the shape. But even they say they make the stem to give People the option to run a matching cockpit With minimal comprimise stiffness, or weight. Stiffness to weight is impressive. But you can get Close for a fraction of the price.

I'm not going to critisize carbon stems. Because I'm currently running one. One to be replaced ASAP admittedly. But I'm replacing it With another carbon. So I'll keep quiet.

If I was to og With a painted stem on steel bike. I think I'd og With a Salsa. I had one on a steel 29er. It was plenty stiff, OK weight wise. The main pull being that it had a slim look to it.

I do get why people like Enve stuff I just think the stems are proper ugly and aesthetically unbalanced. Even those chubby cannondale stems like Dammit used to have kinda work. It just seems like one of those parts that only gets put on for show.
But then I do think carbon stems are a bit silly any way. Basically more money for something that you an probably do better in alu. Plus I don't buy into vibration dampening on a stem. I reckon vibration dampening cables would have a greater effect.

Yep. For those with more money than sense.
Also - it's a road bike FFS, if you really care about comfort that much, ride a mountain bike or take up golf.
Most importantly - this is the porn thread and those things are fugly.

I think the ENVE stem manages to match alu. Which is impressive. Still makes for terrible bang for buck obviously. But even ENVE dont claim to have bettered alu, or to have made something amazing. They simply say if you want a matching stem for Your ENVE bars/fork. Here it is. Its made out of carbon because thats what we work With. Yet its has a stiffness/weight comparable to the best alu stems. So buying one come Down to asthetics vs percieved cost. Which I Guess is personal.

Yeah, it pains me because I'm having Enve bars on the new bike but really don't want the stem because it's ugly as sin however non matching parts will no doubt give me anxiety. Fuck it I'm getting a Tune stem.

I think I'd really like that if all the white bits and fluoro lime bits were black.

saddle-stem height questionable
But.... But they say Enve on them and you can match them to your forks as well as the rest of your finishing kit. Plus out of all the really expensive stems Fairwheels reviewed it had the best stiffness to weight* ratio and it's made of carbon so it will absorb all the bumps in the road.... and... and it says ENVE!
Also what is it with integrated seatpost? It looks good on a LOOK 595 and Time frames where you have a seamless transition, otherwise it's just a bit gash (imo obvs).
*I'm assuming it that was without layers of custom paint.
