thank god we're not in the functional bikes thread then
on a side note though, do you reckon the bike richard sachs is still making (very similair to the above) would ride horribly? genuine question, as tube profiles etc. are all very similair

Horribly compared with a well designed carbon frame half the price? Yes. You can make a perfectly decent frame from old school tube sizes, but you're making something which was last at the cutting edge of performance cycling more than 3 decades ago.

it's aesthetically pleasing though
To some eyes. I just see a horribly outdated bike. If you go back to page one, the Raleigh track bike could still be ridden at this year's track league without being a major handicap to the rider. Track irons haven't changed so much. Ride an 80s Pro CX bike in today's races and it would genuinely slow you down even compared with entry level 2015MY bikes.

forgive my impertinence, i never meant to question your vast knowledge or experience regarding the actual ride, the comment is in context to where the actual bike image comes from, speedbicycles.ch, which is a virtual bike museum, there are many pieces there that you no doubt would question the actually functional capabilities of , with that perspective in mind, and given the probable rarity of it, it would have an intrinsic value to some

this argument, although wise, is hard to pitch here surely, given the amount of bikes posted here in the porn that are 3 decades old, no doubt an 77 pogliaghi would ride like a donkey compared to contemporary models
