My uncles van.

Perhaps not the most aero orientation for those wheels, though I doubt much could be done to improve the aerodynamics of that van...

They down to the neked fibres. Not long till affecting structural integrity of tub rim.

No, that's how most carbon brake tracks look.

?
That's a (fairly untouched looking) 3k layer. They leave the factory like that.
Surely you'd go right through that layer before you were near worn?
-

Yeah confused me a bit as usually grey 'basalt' layer but these appear to have a clear epoxy resin track instead.
I dont think any carbon rim is designed to take wear directly on the weave btw.
Tbh its still a shit lifespan even if new. Compared to alloy.

^ Are you talking about the Amaro wheels? Look like a 2011 Reynolds Assault c2g brake track. I have the same wheelset and they look like that from new and never really change if you use the cryo blue pads.
I think they wear very well compared to alloy but don't stop as well in the wet. Have had mine on as the primary wheelset for my road bike for 3 years in varied conditions with no noticeable wear or concave to the track. Alu hoops seem to degrade much faster especially in the rain.

Yiu must go thro pads liek... B-)
That or walkeng B-)

Yes faster than alloy pads- but maybe a new set each year?
Started to use Koolstop salmons on my alloy wheels and though they stop well they wear faster than the carbon pads.
I'd prefer a black stem, but yes.
