I thought you were selling it because you weren't happy with the drop?
Don't sell it, it's an awesome bike.

I'm happy with the drop as a nice Sunday/Century whip, but not as my only road bike, and I can't afford to keep two built up to a good standard. I keep umm-ing and ahh-ing, but I think it'll still be sold. That and if I wreck the frame I can't afford to replace it, which doesn't sit well with me.

This, of course. Getting a bit lower will make 10x the difference the wheels make, but yeah you have to be comfortable/happy.

apparently lighter.
Lighter than this?

Insure it!
(Really need to get bike insurance...)

Lighter than this?
From what I remember they claim around 40g (or 40%, works out pretty similar) lighter than a standard headset assembly. So, maybe? Not about to rip it out and weigh it.

I'm happy with the drop; it's still 9cm or so,
what is 9cm in Scoblebricks?

About 1.5 I think

60cm. Getting an idea for how the bike looks built up, in the same size as my CAAD10 frame set. Pretty alright with the stem slammed, I reckon.
Here's the guy's (mildly obsessive) project thread: http://weightweenies.starbike.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=109014

Haha, he is indeed quite obsessive!

That's lucky because it doesn't appear to have any other options.
I suppose you could put it in the lathe and turn .5mm off outside of the steerer between the bottom bearing seat and wherever the star fangled nut thing is for a few more grams. I would not have thought Crack'n'fail ran their safety margins so tight as to cause a failure with a bit of extra waisting - of course it might be safer and save a lot more weight and cash if he cut the tops off his socks, shaved his arse and took a dump

Can you get acetone from boots etc? Ive not used it before.
-
• #86144
Yep, or any supermarket with a pharmacy, or any regular street corner chemist. About £1 or so a bottle.
-
• #86145
Ask for it at the counter though, might not be on the shelves.

should grind off the cable stops on that Cannondale for true WW rep

• #86148
Removing the battery should drop the weight down quite a lots.

Magic gear fixed conversion would help

Haha class :)
I'm happy with the drop; it's still 9cm or so, the bars aren't so high as to be uncomfortable. Did a mock-up with a -17 and it looked odd. My other frame is where the ridiculous drop is at - 57cm top tube, 14.5cm head tube.
