^^^Not sure I agree with that... The builders that have made the switch are really aware of the potential craftsmanship and ultimate customisation the material offers. Builders like colnago adopted it years ago. Just because it's fibre and glue doesn't devalue the craft, if anything it's more technical building a bike from cloth, laying it up by hand. Look at the argonaut construction images, makes brazing look a bit agricultural.

It is just that Colnago...are all about the technical and stylistic pinnacle of steel frame design and construction
Really? I thought they were about making the best road racing frames with whatever technology was available at the time. Colnago have been in the carbon business for at least 25 years now, which seems long enough for even the most churlish of retrogrouches given that they have only been in any kind of business for 60 years.

No I guessed that much.
I just would have thought you'd be moving your whole stable to discs.
How come you went off the idea of an aero road bike? Or have I imagined that.

Why is everyone getting so uptight about Colnago's? They're all shit.

The top end ones are bloody gorgeous, all the rest are the same as everything else. Colnago's are a bit like Audi's though: it's the not the cars that are shit, it's the owners..

My old boss had a C50, it rode like a wet noodle.
My Master Olympic, however, was a dream - even with the disgusting mismatch of parts that I had on it.

Same thing could be said about Lambos, Cervelos and red trousers for that matter.
Edit. Ok maybe not Cervelo or red trousers. B-)
Who cares - any of these frames in carbon are completely divorced from the heritage of the great makers (and I'm not anti-carbon - I own and rate very highly a Cervelo S3). It is just that Colnago, Cinelli, Masi, Rossin, Sancineto et al are all about the technical and stylistic pinnacle of steel frame design and construction. The only link between that and the carbon bikes that bear their names today is the marketing men.
