Watch the video here, this is my idea of UK mtb...
http://www.gisburnbiketrails.com/
awesome place. only down side is it's quite a short circuit.
I reckon the best bike for this would be 150mm each end with lockouts, (saw a guy riding a Lapierre fitting this description and it looked heavenly) I can't afford or justify that though, so hardtail it is.
Oh, you ride trail centres. Real mountain biking, a nice man made maintained surface with a good cafe at the finish. Much like all the warriors we see at our local trail centres that insist you 'need' full suspension and body armour and 3 gopros to catch their mad 'knar'. It's a joke what people think they need for riding trails in the U.K. if you can win Megavalanche on a 140-150mm bike you sure as fuck don't need 160mm for any U.K. trail centre.

I went to a trail center once. I honestly couldnt think of anything more pointless than going up and down the same hills all day. It was almost as boring as skiing. "proper" mountaing biking is, for me, the whole south downs way in a day (or the double, which I'm working on) or the Pennine Way, or the Hadrian's wall. I guess some people like the ride, some people like the journey, man.
why bother getting out of bed in the morning
