  • Clearly, people with taste can't afford an English....

  • Headtube is ming, rest isn't too bad, would have gone with shallower wheels.

  • Shiny bar tape, comedy saddle and "seat post" and joke stem/fork assembly need to go. Needs shorter valve extenders too.

  • Actually yeah, good points now I've seen a few more pics of it.

  • oh dear god those valve extenders. revolting.

although i know that the stem has an effective "steerer" and is clamped at the bottom of the headtube next to the fork crown, what is actually wrong with this? english does this with all his bikes does he not?

Total lack of adjustability, and he only does it on some of them. Carbon fork with a modestly priced Taiwanese forged aluminium ahead stem would be better in every way.

  • and Enve fork and an SLR on top of it and I'd be quite happy*

*if it fit me, which, of course, it wouldn't.

  • There is a sound reason for the headtube, and if the fork fits as-is then what is the point of making it adjustable?

    That said, it's fucking ugly.

However- bin the wheels, tape, saddle, cranks, and sort the shifter position, introduce DA 9000 cranks, Lizard skins DSP/Fizik tacky, an Arione R1 and some shallow ENVE tubs and wallop.

I'd want something as pricey as an English to last a long time, and bodies change over time. Even if the original owner doesn't want to keep it for 20 years, it would be easier to sell on if it wasn't limited by a stem which permits no adjustment to either stack or reach without going back to Rob for a new one. Not sure what he charges for one of those steerer-stems, but I'm pretty sure it's going to be at least 10 times the price of a superior forged aluminium one.

I'll take those wheels and cranks if you're getting rid...

  • Tester- you'd have made that decision at the point of order though would you not?

I tend to cut the steerer on my carbon forks down rather than leaving 3" of Scoble for when I am old and infirm, similar thing- albeit with a significant price difference I expect.

  • But even with a cut-short carbon steerer, you can easily and cheaply move your bars quite a long way with various lengths and angles of OTP stem.

  • If you have no sense of shame, yes.

  • I would sell a bike which would fit the client now so that it will last for a couple of years or a lifetime with minimal need to change anything as it fits you perfectly.

Selling them that idea ensures that you get repeat custom when they want an adjustment to the fixed length parts.

Smart business plan in my opinion.

  • Shiny bar tape, comedy saddle

Bar tape is the lizard skins dsp race .. somewhat a forum favourite, although not mine it has to be said.

I'm actually surprised the English is not getting more love as all that carbon is custom Enve tubing ;)

  • shit. still miss this frame. but belong in rat bikes, where I posted it before.

  • good page, let's see if we can keep it up.
