So how is the rear wheel still as clear as the front?
It will have lost some detail in post which is irreversible but that isn't the reason why the background fades out on the left.

Sunlight making the walls tones brighter to the left? Who really knows...

The Mapei 'Nag is fantastic, I love it. The period studio background just caps it.
