They are common brands that you kinda get bored of seeing. But I find myself more often pleasently surprised by Giants. Even the mid range looks very nice. Saying that Spesh make some amazing MTBs

I always saw BMC as more of a niche brand. But I guess that was before the pro team success.
-
• #81804
To me ever since Bumchin did so well on a BMC they stopped being a niche brand.

who cares about niche brands ffs. Most niche brands that sell carbon frames are re-selling open mould stuff and those that aren't are a completely ridiculous amount of money.

The smaller the brand the more interesting it is to a degree. The bigger brands try to please all the poeple. Thus water down any character traits. I think its human nature to be drawn to the less common.
In terms of this thread it makes no difference if you ask me. 'Indie' brands like Surly and Salsa like to look like they are two bearded guys in a shed. Yet they're part of one of the biggest bike companies out there.

How small do you have to be to be 'niche'? Time and Look are minnows next to Trek-Giant-Specialized, but make nice frames which are price competitive with the upper ranges of far Eastern production.

You're not the only one - if I had to buy from a megabrand it would be Giant, I'm tempted to get a TCR every now and then - I had an Omnium for a while which was great.

I ♥ my TCR... even if it is all white and red and makes me look like a young maml.
^^ I think that's why he said most. Obvs no one would put LOOK or Time in either camp.

^this.
Plus Look still make £10k track frames. I class that as a 'ridiculous amount of money'.

The Belkin Giant's from this years TdF were incredible.

They are not £10k ($10k, maybe), and you get the bars, stem, seat post and cranks with the L96, so it's very nearly a whole bike :-)

Bargin.
Will they take full commuting mudguards?

Very true. Tbh I'm happy to mix and match mainstream with niche - Mavic rims are fine by me, but a nice handmade hub from Hope/CK is equally welcome. Same goes for indie chainrings on mainstream cranks. All good.
Here in LA, everyone on the east side with $6k to spare seems to ride something handmade from steel, covered in Paul components. On the West side, they ride Cervelos, BMCs and Colnagos. I doubt either understands the other, but they all ride the shit out of their bikes and love it. -

Its a Giant. Anti>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Yo Goonz. How is it back on '03 ?

Just kidding.
I know what you mean, and it's good that they do.

Agggggggghhhhhh. shrivels into bile
bullshit.
The whole 'big bike brands are anti" thing is total bike forum wank / toss. Giant, Spesh and BMC all make some stunning bikes. Trek less so, but I've definitely seen a few in the flesh that were pretty special.
