Bars are very slightly angled the wrong way, but only very slightly - I think the shifters being a touch too low on the bars is exaggerating the effect, possibly.

Some people prefer a more traditional bar shape that has a drop from the tops to the levers, it's not right or wrong. It's hard to tell whether the flat part of the drops is level because of the angle of the photo, but it's pretty negligible either way.

Yeah good point - I thought it looked good at first but the more I look at it the weirder it becomes having the stem as the chunkiest part of the bike.
Are there any stems that would go with old 1" steel and a Thomson seatpost?
