  • THIS IS RAD:

Is that Fignon's bike from the '89 TDF ?

  • How is that bike standing up ?

  • How is that bike standing up ?

    Fast shutter speed?

On another topic. Too many unfinished bikes.

  • How is that bike standing up ?

    pixels, maybe.

  • yeah, i can tell by the magnets.

  • We always used to pronounce it that way, deliberately, although only now have I considered how it would be pronounced in France. Wol-bey or Wol-bear?

    Vol-bear.

  • Val-schenkle

  • Very nice Erik

  • Is that Fignon's bike from the '89 TDF ?

I guess it's to small for Fignon but otherwise a Système-U Raleigh in 1989 TdF set-up. They started out with white bartape then changed to the red-white-blue bartape for the quatorze juillet stage (Bastille Day) and left it on for the remaining stages.

On the other hand, I suspect it's a replica since the original team bikes didn't have a pump-peg but did have a peg to fix the race number under the top tube (dunno the English word for that).

  • Wasn't it a reynolds 753 frame?

  • can't find a better pic:

there will be some, as soon as it's build up ;)

  • Wasn't it a reynolds 753 frame?

Yup, I suppose that Système-U Raleigh has all the right goodies (Campa Record, etc.) but is based on one of those cheap entry-level replica bikes they sold in those days.

Frame is a DynaTech isn't it?

  • Frame is a DynaTech isn't it?

You're right....but then where did that pump-peg come from? The team frames did not have a pump-peg. Also, why is there no peg for the race number?

BTW, it seems Fignon did not race a Dyna-tech frame in 1989...

  • DynaTech 400 had a pump peg

  • DynaTech 400 had a pump peg

    Not the team-issue frames.

  • This 600 has one too, and the fork looks more like the "Team" bike above. My point being, it's not a team issue bike, it's a retail bike repainted in team colours.

  • Ah, that figures!
