Thank you William.
I want Ryan to build me a bike but can't decide what.
My fleet is missing a tourer/audax bike, and an MTB... I guess my track frame is getting old, but can't justify a replacement for that as I'd never use it.
Erring towards an MTB as it's something I've promised myself I'll get into, but I guess buying an Oak as your first MTB is probably a mistake and I should experiment with cheaper stuff first?
Damn the stuff coming out of Oak lately is brilliant!

That's like saying "she's just about perfect, but her nails are a bit too long, she's wearing 1 too many bracelets and her heels are 1/2 inch too high". Super insignificant.
welcome

I'm obviously missing something but I really don't think that Oak is all that. Ryan definitely does some amazing stuff, but like any custom designs some of really isn't.

^^^ Tbh, if you're gonna get a mtb, you might as well go for a full sus rig that will be far more versatile over a greater variety of terrains, more bang for your buck, and more fun to boot.
Whereas an touring/audax bike would very much benefit from a custom frame, especially if you're planing on putting serious miles on it.

Yep, is my thinking too. Plus if I never get around to touring at least it'll be a versatile bike.

I'd quite like a Spezzotto despite the shoddy paint. They are the real deal.

Nah, what's special about that? No 'wow' factor

Tiny italian family builder still doing their thing after 30 (?) years.
The bonus is people like you don't see a Colnago/Pinarello/Willier/DeRosa/Rossin/Cippolini/Battaglin/Basso/Etc.

Dammit's Dale, I assume(?). It really needs those on-one logos dealt with and that fugly chain tensioner removed for the pic.

Looks fun.

It's cracking fun- and don't worry, the On-One cranks days are numbered.

• #72996
looks fast - when did you get that frame?
-
• #72997
Picked it up weekend before last, waiting for some parts for it- hence the rogue cable currently taped to the other one etc.

That cassette... Mmm Mmm Mmm, like the priest said, I do prefer it tight.
