A great skill, though. It's only tacky in the same way fancy lugwork is tacky. It depends if you're paying tribute to the work and talent behind the finish or the actual aesthetic. If that frame can't be in porn than neither can a colnago..

Meh my mum done my window frame and the supporting beams in my bedroom when I was a kid in the same faux wood grain looked very realistic, still does to this day.
