  • Wondering whether it would look nicer with black tape?

That bike is lovely don't get me wrong, just needs as you say tweaking

  • "- Due to oval section and bends, this bar with only accept removable face plate stem"

    ^^^^ ?!?

    Not strictly true.

  • I'd rather not bother levering a 'closed' stem to try and fit those bars either way...

Modern track bike... Rotor cranks, ISP, expensive Enve stuff then a flexy single bolt stem with bars that are frankly horrid to ride on the track.

But it isn't a track bar. It was never designed to be.

  • Looks like an original but i can't believe that could someone from de rosa
apply the decals on TT and CS like this..
I also can't understand how can someone fit his tyres so wrong on pista wheels...

**Genuine question: **What do you mean/see wrong? Look fine to me but I am on a small screen in a bright room...

Looks to be the other De Rosa, the same as Metro Camel's...

  • From CP.

First fixed project almost done, want to restore the fame and fork.

  • cinelli's always porn
even one as ugly as this 1

  • What's ugly about it?

  • I guess most will hate this.

    I love it.

    Fatty clown bike FTW.

Looks like something you'd see a soap-dodger on at Critical Mass.

  • Needs more spacers ed, surely?

  • ^ filth

  • Look at the load path and you'll see the fail - maybe not the first time you use it, but very likely exactly when you least want your brake to fail catastrophically.

  • Ouch. Hadn't even noticed that. Bit of a shame as they've clearly put a lot of effort in and overall, I personally think it's quite an aesthetically pleasing piece. At least it's not been painted yet. Still time to fit a pulley.

  • Can someone tell me what kind of riding this is for? I'm thinking MTB but there's no brake lugs... Fixed 29er?

i don't get it, can you please elaborate?

It's got front disc mounts, and I think there are threaded rivets (or whatever they're called) for attaching screw in post mounts for rear cantis.

rigid 29er, the dropouts are removable (rohloff) and not shown in the picture, the brakes are fitted on the sliding dropouts so that they never need to be adjusted each time the wheel is taken off.

It doesn't need a pulley, it just needs some structure in line with the cable. At the moment, the cable tension is only resisted by the bending stiffness of the noodle, i.e. not at all. Even if it doesn't break, braking performance will be shit because the noodle will flex and waste a lot of the lever travel. A simple tie-bar between the noodle and the stem will sort it out.

This cheap old Zoom job gets it right:

There's something about this that is just right.

Don't you think adding a tie-bar as you suggested might make it all look too fussy though? The zoom design is neat but it removes the option for a threaded barrel adjuster. Arguably unnecessary perhaps but i still think the pulley would look the tidiest.

I can't get over the fact that the stem has a tiny bit of a slope, so it doesn't line up with the bars and hoods, which are beautifully level. Ruins the whole bike.

I need to get outside more.
