Doesn't look excessive to me.

Actually you're right... 54x18 or thereabouts, just under 79".
That 54 looked massive, and the 18 looks small. But that chunky stay and chain angle is what gives the effect.

I bet he looks comical riding with that much saddle to bar drop, and the gear is definitely for racing.

his new Planet X TT set up is well nice imo

you mean like Miguel Indurain, the middle aged amateur?
Big Mig still has a fair saddle to bar drop though. The clue is in his name really.

I quite like this but why have a 40 spoke front wheel? Genuine question. You would have thought aero/low spoke count would be preferred, so is this built for stiffness for some burly sprinter when aerodynamics are less of a consideration due to the relatively short length of their effort?

I quite like that. Not 100% about the brown hoods, but they're somehow ok with those tyres.
- the cables look like a 5 year old has been let loose with some liquorice.

Training wheel, innit?
If anything, aero is even more important to sprinters as they are the ones who go fastest; at 70km/h, a sprinter has nearly 60% more drag power per CdA than a pursuiter doing 60km/h

RE the bike check video - any hope of being HHSB edgy and urban completely collapsed at the inclusion of 'and whatnot'. I didn't know that saying had travelled across the pond, and apparently it hasn't travelled well.

Its not a training setup. The bike is Olga Panarina's from Belarus.
Here she is in the bronze final in the 2011 World cup sprint final with that wheel. http://news.bbcimg.co.uk/media/images/51855000/jpg/_51855701_pendleton_ap.jpgI even believe she was one of the last to change to a sprint specific helmet. I don't think they have a lot of government support in Belarus so that might be the reason.
Her trainer is a big fan of leather too :)
Ridden by this fella presumably?
