Apparently not...

Apparently not. What you had was 501 x 105, which was the barely acceptable minimum spec to go racing back then. The one which is properly in this thread is 653 x DuraAce
A 531 actually!

blb parts are not really porn

• #62064
couldn't you say Brother frames are on a par with BLB components. They look nice and perform just fine but are just rebranded taiwanese imports. Sorry if I have been misinformed about either brand but this was my understanding

Modern reproductions of old stuff are a bit naff.
-
• #62066
Does this mean all modern steel frames? or are you referring to the cranks stem etc?
-
• #62067
Does this mean all modern steel frames?
Not all of them, just the ones which reproduce the 1" threaded steerer and other classic tube diameters. Compared with the classic era, the simple expedient of upping all the tube ODs by ⅛" is a dramatic improvement, enabled by steels like 853 with a higher yield strength than 531. A 31.8mm OD x 0.4mm wall down tube is 10% lighter and 12% stiffer than a classic 28.6 x 0.5

I do agree performance should trump a classic look, but it can look very nice and that means a lot even to you im sure
edit: I mean looks in general are important to everyone
