no carbon wheels, UL. :(
the thing that truly makes a 100 quid, 30 pound steel frame a hit is a set of carbon wheels.
That's only like your opinion.... and you know what they say about opinions, right?

Lovin this in spite of the seatpost.
Bit confused by this. 360 drops, low standover and maguras made me think street/trials bike but Thomson layback, chainring/guard and bolt on fixed gear suggest not. Also don't understand the roller/chain tensioner thing. Surely it can't be spring loaded if it's being run fixed? Maybe adjustable somehow?
Im probably reposting, but many modern trials bikes have a fixed sprocket on the wheel and a freewheel built into the chainset.

I'd like a PHM9...if Look, BT, Felt, Cervelo, FES and UKSI all refused to sell me a track frame.

Felt belongs in that line up?

Only thing I don't like about that Samson is the chainring.
Looks cool on a beefier bike, but not on a classic looking one like this. -

Yes, proven track record under Sarah Hammer. Never seen a World or Olympic medal won on a Bridgestone.

The current UKSI ones are much sexier, and include thumbwheel adjusters

Not really.
This is the best Pompino ever:
But its got the ugliest cranks in the world- anything with those cranks is anti-porn, no matter what the rest looks like.

Can you actually buy an UKSI though? Isn't there a rule that a frame used for something under the UCI regs is commercially available? Or do they effectively price everyone out and supply them to BC?

The regulation says 'marketable', there's a lawyers' paradise in working out what that means. Since this is the pron thread, that's an irrelevant discussion - the British ones are unquestionably more pronworthy than the Japanese ones.

which has nothing to do with the frame

At that level, it pretty much assures us that the Felt is close enough in performance to the other top level frames; there's so little between the athletes that severely compromised equipment just won't do.

If that was ever true then the british team wouldn't be getting their own frames made now would they.
the baum track bike is a beauty, but: lighweight wheels for the velodrome???
