Do you see any chevrons? I wasn't sure what they were, so I asked the audience. Speedplay are good for track, just a pity the people who run the company are cunts.

That's crazy money, you can tune a pair of Chro-Mo axle Zero's to close to that weight for far far less outlay.

Chromo spindles are 115g, aftermarket Ti spindles are ~58, so for £30 on top of the cost of the chromo pedals you can get to ~150g.
Spend some more for Ti butterflies and the screws which hold them on and you are going to be at or around the nano's.
I'm a bit of a weenie and I think those nano's are silly.

Doesn't equal out the stress. Standard lacing pulls the hub both ways so the only reason to only have a half radial wheel is because you can't run a full radial rear wheel. Pointless imo, radial just increases the chances of the hub breaking.
+1 on that^
but 1/2radial rear looks so f*ing radical,
think i'ma build me one like dat next timephil wood flanges can take radial abuse.

how is a paint job the same as that Panasonic up there achievable?
-
• #57873
radial on the non drive-side,
The arguments for and against using radials on a back wheel are mostly to do with the unequal tensions required on either side to build a dished wheel.
That Phil hubbed job up there is not dished, so the spoke tensions should be equal side to side.
There are more reasons for not using radials on a brakless skidder rear. But judging by the crows foot pattern he's got on the front, the experimenting is still in progress.Talking of radials on the rear, this bike is testing the strength of bladed spokes more than it should, but it doesn't look set up for day to day use. :)

I guess it must be the same as this sorta thing
with a metallic gunmetal basecoat + sparkles? I reckon a good car paint shop would do it pretty easy - but expensive
edit: looking at the frame again it does look pretty, but the whole iridescent thing is a bit flash for me to want to ride around..

You can find out about how it works on the Metallic Paint and Pearlescent Coating wiki pages. Something about one of them having bits of metal in which reflect light and about different layers reflecting light in different ways. I'm inclined to think it has more to do with magnets than anything else though.
