MrSmith what's the advantage of a 3 spoke wheel on the front? is it lighter than a normal wheel?
Nope, HED3 front clincher is same weight as a Mavic Cosmos front clincher. You can get lighter wheels.
HED3's win out when it comes to aerodynamics (great for TT's) and 'look at me!" factor.

It increases the bike's BJ's per Mile.
Pip, the paint was a complete accident on the part of the builder. A frickin awesome accident! And I get a free paint job out of it in the future (possibly a fork)

lpg I'moncrank, i don't think your Hed3 quite works on this bike
Looks perfect on your bareknuckle, but really clashes with witcomb. i recommend matching it to the rear. would look a treat!Homie, I KNOW yer wrong.

That looks like the old "have got two freewheels and two chain rings but really want to have a fixed wheel bike" trick. Basically one frewheel will coast forward, the other one coasts backward. Hey presto, you've got a fixie.
I have no idea why you'd want to do this, other than to see if it really works.
I suppose it does mean that the bike is perfectly balanced left to right!

You could have different gear ratios for forwards and backwards, may make skid stops easier? kinda goes against the simplicity of being fixed though
-
• #591
i think the guy who made it actually has set it up with a flip flop hub, fixed/fixed. (from memory)
Both are running identical gears. and he is a tool. -

that really makes my head hurt when i try to work that out in my head.

it's symmetry, people. SYMMETRY

So one half of the drivetrain is completely redundant, since the chain tensions patently wont be identical. Idiot.
However, the different ratio free/free idea is VERY cool... dead easy skid stops but an awesome mashin' aboot town gear? Top notch.
You'd constantly have one ratchet clicking though.... thats gotta suck.

or sound very cool.
perhaps. -

fc9k You'd constantly have one ratchet clicking though.... thats gotta suck.
usually with freewheels, there's a certain amount of light grease/oil that makes it virtually silent without making it skip..
