I've been searchable for years and it always irks me when I see an opinion of my work that is spawned by ignorance..
The holes in the main tubes make the frame very stiff to resist twisting-this is good on a smooth surface track.
The eccentric is not for chain tension, but rather to adjust the seat angle for different riders.
The small holes (chokes or venturis; depending on which frame they were applied) are to remove boundary layer drag from a spinning wheel.

loads of his tandem posts are great. I now hate mine a little less, just by staring at pictures of people enjoying riding one, even though mine is a horrible horrible thing.

..while cleaning spam out of the blog site I found a comment from a forum member that was "critical" (my word) of the holes and no clue about the eccentric... Sorry I presumed it would like back to that post.. an indication of the little time i spend doing computer housekeeping duties.. ;~) The picture just posted is the frame in question..which, BTW set a women's Kilo record the first time it was used..
