  • There are too many fools following too many rules around here and I for one can't be fucked to look at another perfectly executed, textbook NJS track bike clone.

    this

  • I love that Panasonic. the couplers are a weird addition but it only adds to the pervy appeal for me. As do those anatomic bars with their strange tape. Love it.

    +100

couplers are a great way or ruining a perfectly good tube

    -1...well, sorta.
The guy that owns that Panasonic is the same of that silly pimpied Ritter from a few pages back, yeah the carbon and RAW look one, so I assume this is his 'leisure' bike.
By this I mena I wouldn't probably get thm for my track bike, but definitely for a tarck one.
I want some, thinking if should get a frame and have them fitted, or simply start a custom one with them on.
Traveling to Portugal and taking my bike, innit?.

  • That blue frame is for sale. I found it last night on the bay.

  • As do those anatomic bars with their strange tape.

    Cinelli Mash.

  • I can strip my bike to a bare frame in minutes with a 5mm alan key and a 15mm spanner. Couldn't justify couplers unless I was breaking the bike at least 1-2 times a day.

  • have you ever flown with a complete bike as luggage?... I have.

  • Can't say I have but if I were to do so I'm pretty sure I'd just take the bike appart and bag it up.

  • Sure, like I did and everyone else, but it's a bloody nightmare to pack properly, not that it's necessarily easier or simpler with S&S couplers, but it's definitely smaller (compact).
    I just love this....

  • That does illustrate the point very well. There's no way I'd get my bike that small but I still couldn't justify couplers unless I was packin it up on a regular basis.

You got any pics of that bike built up? Looks well tidy.

I do get you but id wager 99.9% of people who buy a frame with them fitted do for the cool factor rather than your reason
Ive travelled the world by air with a bike and luggage and never seen the need to fold it in half.To me its just another american fad,the panasonic does look nice though :)

  • regarding the panasonic above, ive never seen a bike with black deep rims that appealed to me. they just look ugly. on the vast majority of bikes, low profile rims look much nicer.

  • ^ that's what it looks like before all the necessary wrapping and packing.

If you going to fly regularly the best option isn't SS couplers it's a rigid box and a couple of taxi fares.

Not the prettiest of builds, but I'd guess it's well thought... since it's Tomity's :)

  • Ah. Now that's a different matter.

You could take that on a train*

*free of the hate from other passengers.

Not sure that box would close though?

    :/

    Thought the same, lol.
But Carbon rims would do the trick, right?

  • Folding tires, get ready for the folding rims.

ploos 1. Unless its full njs low prfile rims, drops, etc everyone automatically goes anti, eww. When it comes to keirin builds, all you come accross are rules after rules on how to build it, it's actually harder to make a build look good by mixing parts than just making another "porn" clone. That panasonic is an excellent example of how to do it. Lovely stuff

  • reeeee?

    Interesting, but not porn.

  • ^ Not sure how well it works, but that front brake looks awesome.
