Been craving a lo pro for a while now... are they still hipster or are they in the clear?

I also do not get.... i guess i kinda like the look, but is there any functionality to this? I'm guessing not, just extra weight?
Is this how it was built or is it the bastard creation of 2 lesser frames?

I'm not sure that extra weight is essentially a problem with a bike expected to be loaded up with cargo, probably adding strength/stiffness, and in my opinion looks tremendously stylish. -
