  • I very much like that IF on the last page, but am not so keen when bikes are set up with a single ring up front but still have the brifter in place - they look wrong without the cables etc. Makes it look unfinished. I would have thought that for such a well made bike they would/could have found a good looking non-STI style brake lever to complete the build.

    given that this was built (or is admired here) for purely aesthetical reasons, i think the bars should be inline with the stem, thats all.

  • I know this always gets asked, but anyone know the exact model of these bars? Done my back in, and these look comfortable, sit up and beg, and yet suit the frame too. Was looking for some priests, or a similar shaped replica, but these look more relaxed.

  • am about to build a website for someone to showcase their bikes - he has a beautiful early 90s Colnago. Titanium, double down-tube, first generation integrated Dura Ace groupset. Very very nice.

    Also has a Gios; Merckx; Raleigh; Cannondale (ridden by Mario Cippolini) and Slice for TT and several others.

    Meh, seen some photos of Keirin racers with their bar angled just like that sometime, mine angle like that as it's much more comfortable (for me).

    Only SRAM have realised that there is a market for non-shifting left levers which match STI/Ergo/Doubletap right levers.

  • Ksyriums are always anti - they are actually slower than Aksiums for anything other than pure hill climbs.

    About 10% more aerodynamic drag, seemingly entirely due to the fat aluminium spokes. If you factor that into a typical race speed/gradient profile, along with the much lower weight of the Ksyrium, it turns out that it takes more energy to ride the Ksyriums at a given speed than the Aksiums, unless you're riding a hill climb where the lighter weight wheel gains an advantage.

    Aksiums are hardly a paragon of the wheelbuilders art, but since they are Mavic's cheapest wheel and also the one they gave to owners of the (even slower) exploding R-Sys, the comparison is enlightening.
