Henry the tank engine, who do you think?
It's Henry the Green engine, and he's bound to hate snow bikes because he's afraid of precipitation

Yes, the bike is porn, but some Doris is getting in the way.

if you say it's porn it's porn.

Ooooh, had a killer-v (small beast of the east actually - same frame though), got it stolen. For me they rank right up there as one of the best hardtails of that era 1993-99. Totally lush and not particularly over engineered. Miss that bike. Killer v's along with zaskars were definately fore runners to all the jump bikes you get now.
The one above is quite rare having an 1" 1/8th steerer too (a proper killer-v if I'm not mistaken?). I'm trying to work out if it started out life polished too - I think so? Defo porn even with spinergy's and slick tread. I always thought spinergy's were awesome when they came out (nearly as cool as tioga discs), didn't actually hear about many breaking, although that was a time before internet.
Yeh I'll have a bit of that, defo porn.

^^^No fan of the spider and red derailleur but other than that it's nice. Personal choice ofc

brakeless & no foot retention?
-

Yup, simple 5 arm xt cranks and derailer would be nicer, forks are a strange choice too (it would be pace's for me). It is an interesting build though.

@TomBuronArt Looks like a coaster brake to me, but I might be mistaken.

Here are more pictures of the Cannondale (and lots of info but it won't be of much use unless you know how to read Japanese)

Pretty light too at 8.2 kg although I dread to think how much money this beast cost its owner. I think the red parts suit the bike rather well. The frame doesn't appear to be polished from the factory, in the link there's a silver painted one which I'm guessing is the same bike before the transformation.I was so close to buying a Beast of the East a couple of months ago but the seller backed out because he suddenly felt my offer was too low. Which it was. But still.

The version with the dura-ace wheels is nicest imo. What I also realised is those forks totally change the geometry.
Definately an interesting post compared to all the italian and japanese iron that graces these pages.

51 Minutes Ago at 00:10. Reason: or coaster?
thought so.

How much were you going to pay for the beast of the east out of interest? They were'nt expensive frames when the came out £400-500 f+f (fork being a £100 p-bone) and £900 for a full bike with magura's. They were helluva rare even new though, I think I have only ever seen 4 in the flesh ever and me and my friend daryl owned 2 of them.

[QUOTE=tom.;1861102]Truly spoken like someone whose experience of cycling is limited to having owned a "fixie" since the summer.
Clue up, or shut up.
you're a fat bummer

€100 for the complete bike, including a Ringlé H2O which I've seen go for half that on their own. Shame, it would have been cool to get that bike for that money. You win some and you lose some though, on the other hand around the same time I had my eye on a GT LTS but the seller didn't follow through either. Kind of a blessing in disguise thing this time around because it was clearly too big for me but I convinced myself otherwise (as you do).

There are no 11 speed Grip Shifters available yet (to my knowledge) -

elegant:
Yes, it's an Alfine hubs with gripshifter.
I'm going to keep telling myself that I love my red bike with the soon to be build Alfine 11 hubs.
