I'm still loving Andy's one;
For purely aesthetic reasons, I wish the wheels had the same spoke count.
So let me get this right.
A radial 20 spoke front wheel would look better than the current radial 16?

Truly spoken like someone whose experience of cycling is limited to having owned a "fixie" since the summer.
Clue up, or shut up.

I am loving the Pugsleys more than the Salsa (using aluminium for this type of bike limits, I think, its extreme terrain potential). Not sure what the green one is, but it looks like it's steel, so I approve.
I would love to be able to justify owning one of these. I'd need to buy a mountain chalet though.

Yeah, it is purely a personal thing, but I think same spoke counts look better!

also ruined by those chainring bolts. Can anyone explain the right angle cranks to me?

It's like always going downhill with the crank set 90 degrees into the future.
It's like you've won before you got on the bike.

and it helps you see 10 seconds into the future..

It reduces the chance of pedal strike - Perfect for fixies! Would have thought there would have been a resurgence in them by now...
-
• #40664
it avoids the dead-spot (cranks vertical).....well it's supposed to.....and some people still believe it does!

But they behave in exactly the same manner as a standard crank which has the same equivilant length except it's heavier and has increased stress concentrations as a result of the L-shape. If they actually worked you'd see them in use today.

Seriously?
Fair enough theyre good for riding in the snow or over riverbeds or other extreme terrain but they are hardly porn worthy.

Fuck it, next bike is a pugsley. ultimate training device. -

Are you sure it's a Pugsley? Because the seat stay bridge just doesn't look right. Even on the mk1 Pugsley a curved seat stay bridge was used.
If I'm wrong, please prove me so.
Until that point, please remember that some of us have been here longer than you, and may even know a bit more about bikes. Beyond, perhaps, your limited horizons allow you to appreciate.

Yeah, I was a bit harsh. Sorry about that. The fact is, though, that if you saw those bikes in the flesh, you'd want to have a go.
I think that they look great and, even if you're not keen, they are not true anti-porn (as you suggested) as they are not a poorly assembled collection of parts, etc. At most it's like someone straight trying to understand gay porn; it's not that it's not sexy, it's just that it's not your thing.
People seem to think that very Italian (and Italian inspired) track bikes are the one true porn, and quite frankly they're not.

Fuck it, next bike is a pugsley. ultimate training device. After riding the ATB with 2.5" tyres, I have a huge hankering for a Pugsley, and I am in no position whatsoever to get one (especially after I've dropped a lots on an Alfine 11 hubs).
Mick making a bike-related post SHOCKER!
