This really spoilt my evening...
That bike is a horrific mess... looks like 5 different bikes cobbled together... the frame and forks don't even make sense!edit: 7 bikes
Cockpit set up and paint work certainly questionable but i love the f+f combo, looks beauty.

Not a fan of the seat tube on that bamboo bike

Not a fan of the seat tube on that bamboo bike
It does seem a little affected when the chainstays are plenty long enough to permit a straight seat tube, but then using bamboo is even more of a pointless affectation.

Anyone see that Moots ti road bike on the Mosquito stand with composite spokes (except for drive side rear heh)

You disqualify yourself from having a worthwhile opinion on the matter by using the "Campy" abbreviation.

It wouldn't be a Pegoretti without those nasty paintjob would it?
and the smart phrase "My other bike is a woman"? How can it be a D.P. without a such a matching phrase to this naive painting?

Saw that blue Pegoretti that Ed posted at the show today - somehow it was a bit of a let-down in the flesh

May have something to do with the fact that it's fucken ugly.

Reminds me of my blind date failures

Why the other Pegoretti looks like covered in Tynan's paste?

WARNING: very possible it is a re-post

• #36913
Definitely a repost of the bike, if not that actual picture, and also an example of where weight weenieism tips over from potential porn to definite anti porn.

cost $45,000 from an article i read. And it's also made of recycled parts from the previous worlds lightest bike, the German guy who modded the parts then parted the bike out after doing 20,000km on it...
Main difference are the hubs which are a mere 90g or there abouts.edit
30g front hub
84g rear hubjesus !

does it stop when you try riding down a hill?

perfectly functional bike, apparently. Not made for racing, but to see how light you can go, the limits, so to speak.

perfectly functional bike
Oh rly? If you're going to sacrifice as much braking and shifting performance as Gunter has for that bike, why not just build a weight weenie fixie skidder and lose another 200g? Light bikes are only worthwhile if they are faster than heavier bikes. The only place Gunter's bike is faster than a well considered 5kg build is when you get off it and run up some stairs carrying your bike.

i liked the last bit:
tyre glue, AIR, grease

what grinds my gear the most that this bike never been made to race and shave off a few seconds to beat the record, just to make a statement, that this is the lightest one out there

It might be kind of pointless but I like it. The frame itself has supposedly done 20,000km The craftsmanship an attention to detail are off the scale. I also much preffer carbon frames that aren't all aero or wobbly looking.

Some models do that

Let's split that up
Glue: if he used so little (~8g), his tyres won't stay on, and they certainly won't be optimised for low rolling resistance*. Something closer to 50g dry would be a proper glue job.
Air: I'm enough of a weightweenie to have weighed some; if he's only using 8g, his tyre pressure is a bit low. 2 x 20mm tyres at 8 bar comes to about double that.
Grease: yes, you could do a full build properly lubricated (not weatherproofed) with <1g of grease*Oh, that's right, he doesn't care about rolling resistance, he's using Tufo tyres, throwing away more power in rolling resistance than an extra 250g spent on some decent tyres would cost riding up a steep hill.

Don't disagree, however your points have nothing to do with the quality of the end product.
I was referring to the comment made around quality and the assumption that Asian products would be inferior by default. What I don't get is: The far East factories/machinery are pretty fresh and the best for the mass manufacture of Carbon frames. Why the snobbery?

Pretty much all bikes are made in Taiwan now. There is nothing wrong with things made in Taiwan, infact they produce such quality products that people now go to China and India to produce things for cheaper.
Bamboo is a good material if you have to hack it down every morning to keep your yard clear, but as soon as it becomes more expensive than steel it's just a load of wank.
