Hardly personal preference when you're removing a hand position in a discipline where that hand position is allowed. (Using bars specifically for track, where any position other than in the drops is dissallowed, for Cyclocross where you may position yourself as you wish)

explain to me the hand position you loose when using a pista bar?

the top flat part of the handlebar for instance, you're now restricted to just the hood and drop.
in classic CX bicycles, they tend to be normal handlebar (sometime with shallow drop), and sometime have room for another set of brake lever (the aptly named cross levers) giving you more control, a la this;

is that a cross check or an LHT? either way, yum. I'm getting a cross check later in the year and so this kind of pic is really making me want one even more (even if it is a LHT). also, where'd you get the pic?

It's obviously a Porn nono. To be honest tho, who cares? It looks better than road bars and the owner may prefer the ergonomics of track drops.

LHT that. I have much love for mine even though I've only covered a few hundred miles on it.
It's a big comfy perfect tank of a bike. Every home should have one. -

Having pista bars doesn't stop you from putting your hands on the tops. have you ever watched people warming up for a track event? You may be surprised at how many people using the bars pu their hands there. Quite comfortable, I preferred it to ergo bar tops.

True

Warmin' up, sure.

You obviously have no idea now... It's a fucking CX set-up! Capice, meaning - the terrain it's not flat, and you have no flat top to hold, meaning - those are not the adequate bars to use and it makes it look silly. Even if you ride on the hoods there, the palm of your hand is still not resting properly on top of the bar. Warming up, yes fine. 3hrs of hills and fields, no thanks.

And Ordinata quite rightly said, it's perference after all.

Only girls use cross levers
-
• #34470
you mean girls are so weak, they can only operate cross levers because hood levers are too 'manly' for them?

considering the owner races that bike i think he knows what he is doing and what works.

What kind of cadaver molesting cunt uses the flat part of drops anyway?
