The bars are only one problem. To me the stem looks bad, the seat looks bad, the cranks and pedals look bad, in fact everything looks bad except the frame.
I can see the going for the tracker angle but trackers were good in the 70's before much better things came along and to me this is a waste of a good frame. -

You think i care about reposts or what anybody else thinks of it?
If you really are as blasé as your pretending to be, why post anything?

Conversely, if one is really blasé, why not post?

I've decided, I think the bmw is a cool bike, just the handle bars need to come back a bit, + i'm not a fan of brooks here.
reckon everyone would be looking at it differently if he hadn't had the misfortune of overlooking bike porn protocol.
if had just been posted in currents i reckon people would've been way more positive about it.

Though I'm no fan of geared bikes on this forum, still, some can be nice.
And here is a maker that IMO makes some of the most beauteous bikes I've ever seen.AHEARNE CYCLES of Portland, Oregon. [Click on the name link, to see all of his bikes and frames]
His Giuseppe Randonneur is a thing of some magnificense. It is exquisite.
His Peter Track is a model of simple grace and strength.
My pologies to Ed, for the uncontrollable ramrod downstairs, to Velocio, for not bringing this to
his attention earlier, and to dancing_james, for tempting yet more money away from his fingers.
Even Scott_not_Scot will put aside his pettiness, and swoon before the proportions of the Mountain Fixed.Cheers mdcc_tester for the Flickr link.

If there's anything porn worthy there, we're not seeing it in those little pictures, all of which range from meh to me-too NAHBS fodder.

They're better than that - polished stainless, not chrome.

I thought stainless steel was inherently weaker?
don't know if this is true, am sure you will enlighten me!
-
• #33888
forget the lugs, that paint job is insane! Haven't seen anything that nice in a while

Stainless steel is much stronger than blank steel or 531 etc.

Weaker than what? 953 is stainless and twice as strong as common 4130 cro-mo, but 4130 is stronger than some grades of stainless steel. There are a lot of stainless steels. For a BB shell, where the wall thickness is at least twice the wall thickness of the surrounding tubes, almost any of them would be strong enough.

True. Needs silver spokes, probably silver rims, definitely gum wall tyres.
