I have no idea. I bet they came up with an explanation at the time, but history teaches us that 99.9% of cycle manufacturers justifications for aberrant forms turn out to be spurious when analysed by actual engineers.

To me the stem, and the seatpost, both suggest the frame is to big for the owner.

Apart from that and the saddle angle it is very nice!
