  • inspiring shit right there for all you project people,
did you do that Ed? respeck

  • I didn't but it's inspiring indeed, the wheel is now 650c 47c, it's originally design for 700c.

I do know that the drivetrain are Simplex and most of the shiny bits are Velo Orange.

  • all about the mixte eh.
    forget about the fixie.

i mean with the money anyone can do it.

i'm into it. but always more impressed with "project" things done on the cheap.

    porn though for sure.

EDIT: anyway now that i've figured out how to make enamel spray can jobs be durable and look good (see the foldy bike in current projects), i'm gonna be working a bit harder on my projects. Have a nice one in the works with an old steel univega. Still on the cheap though as aways

    650B, surely?

Not necessary, just because the Peugeot may be expensive due to it's choice of part but it doesn't mean that he brought them all in one go.

it's entirely possible to do an expensive project on the cheap as long you have the time, says spend money on a part every month or so, and/or save up long enough to be able to purchase it.

so it's not always easy to do an expensive project.

  • there is a difference between spreading cost and lowering cost...

  • Needs matching saddle and tape/hoods though

    this is like my frame!

  • looks like a bag of skittles

  • just have to spend another hour at work then go home to my newly arrived fluoro colnago SLX frame, hopefully the 150 quid was well spent!

as was said above about spreading cost vs lowering... and....

to be clear, getting a new modern geared build well put together is difficult even on a budget... you just never know how the bike is going to come together. May look like a fat man in track pants when you're done. However, restoring that Peugeot to a pleasing state is dead simple with a wad of bills. Spend some at VO and you're done.

I'm talking take the thing apart, clean everything with some love, leave the parts off that detract from the build, put the ones back on that help it. Do what you can with a few bucks here and there. New tires. Do the gears work? No? Leave them off. Properly single speed it. BB isn't perfect even with a repack? Leave it just a cunt hair loose. The 3 speed bars you found in a trash heap don't fit the stem? Make a clean shim. It's an exercise in restraint and labor. It's also more satisfying.

    just saying.

again porn for sure. but thats not the sort of basement "project" i respect. I'm only saying it because someone said inspiration for the projects thread, and i categorically disagree with that notion.

  • agreed jersey. IMO the one ed posted is just an old frameset that's had a lot of money thrown at it - some may disagree but that's how it looks to me. I'd be more impressed/happier to see it rebuilt/restored in the fashion jersey describes.

  • Cannae remeber seeing it before. I've been yearning after a Colnago track to match my road bike, although this one has an odd absence of Club decals?

  • Then that equals a rat bike and wouldn't make it here.

  • It has been posted here before, I like it a lot.
BTW, could that be a real Colnago with a twin plate fork crown?
    Don't remember ever seeing one...

  • I believe they're marketed as being gunmetal ; )

Fresh Stripe, I think had them down as being ti looking.

The one above doesn't look like one. Look at the seat stays.

  • hehe.

  • ^^^Anybody know where to get silva tape like the one in the picture?

  • That looks like a carlton dressed as a colnago. (states the obvious)

  • ^ That has to be one of the worst bike pictures I have ever seen.

On the other hand, it is exactly like porn in that it is shot from an inappropriate angle in order to get a view of something which is usually hidden.

  • its a posh lady up-skirt
